It's obvious that the people who love it aren't here- they're off playing it and having a grand old time and we're stuck with these crabcakes. I'll be back when those people are here to dish with.... =D
ROCK ON, BIOWARE- the game is GREAT!!!

I'd say yay. Most of the people who don't like DA2, are the same folks who don't like ME2. They don't like change.
Or they just don't like DA2. The don't like change, fear change lines are just as bad as the dumbed down crap. Backhanded insults at people who don't like the same things you do doens't really prove a point.
I got mine as a gift when I had told one of my friends I was going to wait for the super special edition. I have not put much time into it yet, but I've had fun so far. So a qaulified Yay I guess. Once I've finsihed the game I'll have a more full view on the subject. I'm having fun in the combat as my stand out thing I prefer over DAO/A. I like games to go more storngly to one side of the turn or action based spectrum than DAO/A did, it was too middle gorund for me. I'd rather have DA2 which is strongly action oriented or a closer to full turn based system like final fantasy 12. On the so far don't like it side is the talent system. Not that DAO/A was perfct in this regard but it seems to be more forgiving to generalists.

Not liking various aspects of a game or even the whole game =/ being miserable. Sheesh. People will have different opinions than you sometimes. Besides, I've seen both yays and nays.

aw, I knew I forgot to type that part out... I'm simply on a quick break from the game.. checking out the general opinion only to find this stuff.
and not liking a game is fine- it's the miserable posts that go on and on and on about hating the game and wanting money back when they know it's not possible, etc.- those are the posts I'm refering to.
so did picking apart my post make you feel better, sweetums? or do you need to do it some more?
feel free, but I will be off enjoying DRAGON AGE II!! Woo hoooooooooooooo

yay... If you like what Bioware did with Mass Effect 2, you'll like Dragon Age 2.
On the contrary, that style of gameplay worked great for Mass Effect primarily because it was a shooter with RPG elements. This is meant to be a sequel to a traditional RPG; "the sequel to the spiritual successor of Baldur's Gate". The action elements just feel out of place, and your options for skills/powers seem meaningless.
Overall, it feels like this game doesn't know what it wants to be. I've loved every Bioware game to date, ESPECIALLY the Mass Effect series, but this.... this is a nay for me.

Most of us love the PC voice over. Hence the reason Bioware added a PC voice in the first place. Imagine that!
No, it really is the most. Sometimes you are the minority.
As for me, I will give my judgement to this game tomorrow, Steam says DA2 will unlock for me in 11 hours. At least I can spend 8 of it in school so it won't feel like a month. I think I will enjoy it, I don't usually compare games to other games and just enjoy what was given to me. Like when NWN2 was released, most NWN fans were pissed off, but I liked it. It wasn't the same, no, but it was very enjoyable if you didn't let your bias kick in.

I waited to buy the game because I was tentative and, after having played it at my friend's house (and seeing the reviews), I'm glad I didn't.
My short playthrough of the demo and at my friend's house has shown me that Bioware has given us a throwaway in DA2.
-The locations are bland. Flat, color-less, empty (and I mean devoid of life... ME2 felt like a bustling galaxy, even in empty places. Here... everything just seems disjointed and static). The beginning area of the game, which would have been an amazing opportunity to kick off the game the right way by showing the full range of the Darkspawn destruction, was instead limited to a couple brown ditches, a small, crumbling structure, and a battle on a flat, brown field.
-The story is almost non-existent (we're several hours in and have yet to encounter anything that resembles a coherent plotline, save "go here, do this.").
-The combat is clunky. Between targeting issues and camera fowl-ups, I've easily MISSED enemies with attacks and had to repeat entire battles because my Defender is too stupid to defend my mage, who goes down in three seconds from EVERYTHING attacking her, when I tell her to.
-Shepherd in ME1 *and* ME2 felt special, because she was uncompromising, strong-willed, and experienced, which showed in every playthrough on either Renegade or Paragon. However,in DA2, everyone keeps saying I'm a "Champion"... but I can see no clear reason why Hawke is special, other than she's the PC.
-The poorly written dialogue reinforces this, as Hawke is bland and uninteresting. Her compatriots are similar in this regard, as they sign on to her party without question, offer help for no reason, and become fast friends for no reason other than it's convenient to expedite the pace of the game.
-The first two hours of the game emphasize combat only, barely touch on specialization (which is confusing unless you spend 20 minutes reading all the different branches), and are filled with endless waves of cookie-cutter enemies. Hell... even the writers seemed to get bored with it, because I was allowed into the city with two short walks on the same, small map, before I was consigned to a ONE YEAR fast forward and then introduced to a bunch of NPCs (lacking any discernible personality besides being gruff and shrewd) that knew my character as a slave, but had yet to be introduced to me. Oh, and my first big quest is "make mom happy."
I hope to God Bioware is releasing the REAL Dragon Age 2 next week, and this is an early April Fools joke, because this game is God-awful pitiful at the on-set and several hours through does not appear to be getting any better.
I also hope to God you've got all the talent on ME3, because an awful lot of bad decisions have been made for this game and it painfully shows.

Like an ugly, dumb, three-legged dog. It tries to hobble along, bless its heart.
It's been so average so far, I can see how people love it and how people hate it.
Though hopefully the game will get better after this awful unrelated quest spam is done with

On its own, it's alright so far. But I sincerely hope for DA3 Bioware goes back to DA:O for inspiration, not DA2.

so, Yea
Also, I can appreciate dev's effort to innovate? combat system and it works for me.
Simplified yet effective/ variable enough skill tree system/
I think it's crafted well enough for multiple playthroughs.
and luckily I could appreciate high res patch
but buggy very high option might need some more patch.
Nicer graphic/ varied believable combat animation and combat system add HUGE replay value to this game I believe.
Changed art style with some mid-eastern attire look fresh
As many reviewers online say inventory system is maybe too simplified, I feel that too.
Ability to customize appearance and equipment to make character to one's taste is one of major affection of RPG genre over many other simplified action adventure / fPS, but simplifying it too much is very hard to understand...
Taking out redundancy would be nice but over simplifying?
Taking good/ well received features from other genre is always welcome/
but taking out already advantageous feature of RPG would not be good for RPGers?..
Not a big fan of appearance dlc..

I'm a bit disappointment at the removal of some aspects, like customizing your companions look with gear or that the combat is too fast but, other than that, i'm loving it.

Also, I really enjoyed being able to stop and talk with people in Origins...I HATED that that was removed from Awakenings and I'm constantly visiting houses now just to discover, nope, still can't talk to them. I feel really disconnected from the characters. I can't figure out their motivations besides shallow ones (Sorta like if you didn't talk to Morrigan or Zevran enough you'd just figure they were either a complete jerk not worth knowing or in Zev's case, completely shallow and vapid.) The characters are FUN, don't get me wrong. But they're not as engaging as they managed in Origins and I think alot of that is the seriously more limited discussions. I feel like I'm in ME2 again where I get to find out Garrus is recalibrating crap ten thousand times.
