I installed the game, and everything went fine. It did the first time start up, did the release check, everything went fine. Only, then nothing.

Now, if I hit "play" off the launcher, the launcher closes but the game doesn't load. It doesn't even seem to try. I've updated my video drivers, installed Direct X 11 off of the disc. Uninstalled and reinstalled the game. Even rebooted, and set the launcher to run in administrator mode.

Anyone else having this issue, or know how to resolve it? Hell, I'll settle for seeing the game try to load up at this point....

Yep, just got it installed and no dice.

Game wont even boot up. After hitting play off the launcher, nothing happens.

*Edit*

Disc spins for about 4 seconds and then stops. Come on bioware.

Anyone reminicing about when DA1 first came out??

Yeah, I can't get it to start. I'm going to install it for the third time, this time with AVG completely disabled.

What did you update your video drivers to? Both nVidia and ATI have new DirectX 11 drivers available in beta format containing specific fixes for Dragon Age 2.

Can someone please tell me what the release check is?  I hit "OKAY" but now the game won't play.

Same exact issue. No updates. No help. Just "Update drivers, turn of DX11."

The release check is because some digital download versions let you pre-install DA2 before Tue March 8th. (Steam etc) I think its just to check that its actually Tue Mar 8th then let you play... (I could be wrong)

It worked (knock on wood).  I was able to launch the game.  I recommend that people try disabling AVG while installing the game, not just while trying to run it.  Once the game was installed and I had it running, I reactivated AVG and it has worked fine ever since (knock on wood again).

AVG has been a problem with a great many games, same as Kaspersky has. I changed to Avast quite a long while ago, after having used AVG for several years.

Game won't start. I tried with and without the texture pack, in directx 9 and 11. Video card was already updated then I updated to the new beta driver and tried everything again, still would not start. The first time I tried the game the security release date check comes up loads to 100% closes right away and then nothing happens, if I try to run the game again I hit play that window closes and then nothing happens.

System

Windows 7 64 Bit
4GB DDR3 Ram
Nvidia EVGA 460 SE
AMD x6 3.2
Avast antiviris

as a heads up, AVG likes to stop the game without telling you, my advice, uninstall AVG, worked for me :)
