As title says, very upset, game just hangs when I try to play it.

Brand new from Amazon, no scratches, signature edition.  Have all DLC already, installed the mandatory 4GBs from the disk, game just sits at the Loading...... screen after I select "New Game" option.


Anyone else?  Any fix ideas?  Game boots up, plays opening cinematic, goes to menu screen, etc.  Everything works besides "New Game", the most important feature.   Anything you had to do, like delete saves, log out of certain services (PS, EA), etc?  I've try about everything.

uninstalled game data and reinstalled it. Still won't work, 20+ minutes sitting at a loading screen.

A console game should not have this issue. Period. Now I am hearing ME2 or DAO saves can screw with being able to load? The suggestion is to delete all data for those games? Ummm, I still want to play games I own from day 1, even if they aren't day-one releases I don't want to have to delete other games in order to play this one.

got a PC version to work... Guess i will contact EA about a new copy because Im not going to rest till i get it working. I hope some sort of patch is being worked on, but perhaps EA tech support can help.

im experiencing the same thing but at EACH loading screen.. not just the first..

basically if you dont' see your ps3 hardware amber light blinking during the loading screen.. it's not gonna do squat..

take out the disc and reinsert..

what i've been doing also is manually saving my progress so i can get back to where i was.. it doesn't take out the issue completely but at least i can get further in the game..

This is also my problem. I cannot get further than the very first loading screen after pressing New Game. So frustrating.

Bioware, are you listening? That's the sound of fans loosing some very loyal fans due to your in ability to release a game that will even work! This release scares me about games to come from you guys............

I hope there is a patch around the corner.

This has also been happening to me. I managed to progress through the beginning, but now the infinite loading times are really beginning to ramp up. I was stuck in one area for about 4 hours because the next one wouldn't load, and now it looks like I can't leave THAT area.

furthest I have gotten, mind you after probably about 8+ hours of toiling, is to the first Troll in the prolog.

I gave up and have been using a PC version for now. I'll wait a week or so for a patch but if nothing shows up, im done waiting and this will be returned.

About half the time I load a save it goes to the loading screen and "loads" until I turn off the console. Other times it loads within a few seconds. First ME2, and now this. Should have learned my lesson the first time.

While I'm typing this I am trying to play the game but for some reason now three times in a row I am stuck on the loading screen. If I can't get this to load soon DA2 will be going back with ME2.

EDIT: Strangely enough, all of these freezing problems we are having on the PS3 are no where to be found on the PC/360 sections of this forum. I'm guessing the game was built for the PC/360 and then sloppily converted to the PS3 without testing?

Great..it's not 50/50 anymore. Yesterday I loaded up the game four separate times and twice it got stuck on the loading screen. Just tried to load my game 8 times in a row (after restoring PS3 file system, rebuilding PS3 database, and deleted all DAO game saves) and each time it has gotten stuck on the loading screen.

Will be returning this game tomorrow.

Would have thought this thread would get some attention from Bioware.

P.S. Has anyone noticed that with ME2 the forum section was called "PS3 Technical Support Forum" but for DA2 it is called "PS3 Technical Support Self Help"? Not very reassuring Bioware.

Yes my brothers at arms, I too have been having this issue. I can't wait to play this game and I am grateful to Bioware for giving us wonderful RPG goodness, but please try to patch this for us. The loading screens just hang up infinitely and I am only a half hour through the game ***SPOILER ALERT** at the city of chains after Flemeth's entrance (cut scene).**** End Spoiler*** I cannot get any further than that and I have had the game for a day and a half now...please help us BioWare!!

It's a bit absurd that Bioware has not commented on this yet, I agree. Still have not been able to get past the prolog on the PS3 - even after updating firmware that was just released, installing both DLC and Patch file, along with all DA2 game data.

Can reliably get to character select screen, but freezes on me everytime after the first 5 minutes, right after you are asked "Do you want to handle these dakrspawn, or should I?" - and then it freezes. Never made it further than that. It's comptlely forzen the PS3 -requiring a hard reset. If I don't hear word from this soon, I know my voice will at least count for something because this is insane.


Bioware, your fans and customers are looking for support for your UNPLAYABLE game, yet EA is only able to escalate my ticket and tell me to keep waiting until it gets way up there, and you remain silent. My trust in the compay has dimished greatly, and I wonder if it has anything to do with EA....  Just look at your metacritic scores accross the board from your USER BASE!  The PS3's negative reviews consist largely of "unplayable" or " constant inexcusable gamebraking glitches".  This is not a beta - this is RETAIL for a CONSOLE!

We're looking in to it internally but currently do not have any new information on the issue.

Rest assured that we have several people scouring the forums recording User issues and investigating them. Not every thread will get a response due to sheer volume or simply because they are duplicate issues (http://social.biowar...2/index/6419752)

This is still an issue. EA has escalated my ticket again. I guess I will just return the game and advise others to do the same... those of us with this problem are not getting a timely solution by any stretch of the imagination.

Hate to be a fan boy n' all, but I'm sure Bioware is working on the problem. Although, it would be nice to at least hear a progress report, as getting the game -not- working fresh out of the box is lame. We can only hope that a patch will be released soon to fix the issue.

My game hangs too, not just during loading, but even a simple quest update can make my game stuck. It happens about half the times something updates or loads, adding a new codex entry got my game stuck just now.

*throws hat in the ring* mine lag/freezes/won't respond to control input at the character design screen as well. If I wait up to five minutes it usually 'brightens' and allows me to navigate. I have also tried to plug in a wireless controller or swapped controllers with mixed results. My game will also freeze every 2-3 hours required a system restart.

 I'm having the same problem.  At about 80% of the loading screens (whether I'm entering another room or loading up a file) the game sits on that loading screen until I restart my PS3.  I don't normally post on the forums, but I'm happy (though disappointed) to see I'm not the only one with this problem.

To let you all know, EA has responded again and has escalated my ticket again. The latest advice was do the reformate for my PS3 but that is not an option for me as I don't want to back up a terabyte of crap just to get their buggy game working. I've asked for a game exchange or some sort of proof progress is being made towards a patch for us PS3 gamers who have been completely left in the dark and abandoned by bioware. This coming from a huge bioware fan and supporter. I even bought another version on the PC.

Chainer3000 I feel your pain. I pre-orderd this games over a month ago and cant even get it to load the prologue. Why does every multi platform game developer except bioware able to code PS3 games. Paid 60 bucks for a unplayable game.

Me as well. I am contacting Amazon to return my copy and suggest others do what they can to return their copies as well. Bioware and EA have done nothing to help nor have they acknowledged the pi$$poor dev work done for the PS3 version. Hell, my PC version got a patch for minor issues, yet my PS3 version got nothing?

Last straw. Amazon is complying and will accept my copy due to the circumstances - however I am waiting to see if EA will first provide the option to swap my disk for a new one.

Erm. What makes you think a new copy will make a difference? If it's a glitch with the *game* on the system then a new copy will just be a shiny new copy that still doesn't work. Best to save your energy and wait for a patch.

I had the same problem couldnt start a new game, also couldnt play saved games as names werent showing on screen and mission names and codex entries were just jumbled letters. I did as others would - deleted saved games, and game data and now I'm at the stage where its deathly slow installing game data and it gets to a certain percentage then jumps to 100% and freezes which means only part of the game data is being installed so every time I try to play it just keeps telling me game data needs to be installed.

What I'm wondering is it a glitch, disc problem or perhaps something more sinister that might spell ps3 trouble. Any help would be appreciated.
