Anyway, I'm returning the game to Amazon for a full refund. Done waiting for a PS3 patch, just playing on my computer hooked up to the big screen with a wireless keyboard and mouse... which is admittedly a better experience, graphically as well.
I will say I am done supporting bioware's console titles, but will continue to buy the computer counterparts as always. I suggest those with this issue return their games and buy the PC version or none at all, instead of waiting for something that may never come. I was looking forward to buying ME3 on the 3 systems to compare, too... I -was- a huge bioware fan before this obvious cash in on loyal fans. The DLC being on the disk was the nail in the coffin on this one.
EA takes another amazing company and runs it into the ground.

"I returned the game to Amazon.com already, they informed me that several PS3 owners have already done so before me, and that even though it has been opened, is signature edition, and all the DLC has been redeemed, it is not a problem at all to refund due to the large number of complaints they have gotten about this version of DA2.
Thanks anyway for all your half ****ed help. It would be nice if your company took responsibility for your own mistakes, or made the company you publish for release a statement. I would have held on to the game if it were acknowledged in bold somewhere that this is an issue they are trying to resolve, but us gamers with non-working copies have been left in the dark. This is a glitch that would have been caught if you did any beta testing whatsoever - along with the dozens of others.
But thanks, I learned a valuable lesson for free: I'm done supporting EA console titles. I'm sure you have a great mixed group of mammals working on the PS3 development, but perhaps you should have trained the homeless people that were picked up off the streets first...
While you at it, I think you should hire better trained Monkeys, like those from NASA, instead of the ones you just find in the Zoo.
That may seem a *tad* bit harsh, but from the headache this game has given me on my PS3 and the horrid customer support from both EA and Bioware, they both deserve to be chewed out for this. I will stick to what Bioware knows: PC games. I hope Bioware got the message - don't screw over your fans.
tl;dr: I'm done in the PS3 tech support forum, so no more "whining" from me.
I truly hope those of you with any GAME BREAKING glitches (not minor issues like trophies, the occasional freeze, or slow load times ) can get a full refund.
If you want to play DA2 as badly as I, buy a copy off Steam if you have a nice PC or laptop. It really is a fun game on the PC. I use an Asus G53JW custom built laptop, which I have hooked up to my 42" Sony LED TV (GTX 460m 1.5gb ram, 12GB DDR3, intel i7 @ 2.33 not OC'd, liquid cooling, thermal cooling plates, overclock custom touch-activated button). Use a wireless mouse and keyboard and you can lay in bed and play the superior version with the newly released High-Rez pack. Just food for thought as this is honestly the best solution for those of us with non-working copies at this point: get rid of it while you still are under warranty, don't sit on your ass until it runs out.
Good luck to any of you still waiting - I hope Bioware steps up and fixes this problem, but I am done waiting for them to fix a game that clearly was not tested properly.... Props to those of you with more patient and still have trust in Bioware's PS3 development abilities... even ME2 would freeze on me about once every 2 hours, and the screen tearing was awful.

Just wondered though if possibly the disc is faulty or my drive is faulty that the game data wont even get installed. If anyone has had an issue like that then please let me know which it was that would be the likely culprit. thanks

Having seen the problems people are having with the console version of the game I am wondering now if it is my disc that has caused the problems that I stated in my earlier post. I have since backed up, reset (with full format) and attempted to reinstalled DA2 to my PS3. I can now state that again it does not install the full quota of game data before jumping to 100% and freezing, leaving me with no game installed and ergo no game to play. I dont want to return the disc unless absolutely necessary as there are 1 or 2 people on my friends list who are rattling their way through it no problems.

my friend's ps3 did this when installing DA2 and as his was the normal version he had no problem returning it for a new disc. Now his DA2 game has installed properly and he has no problems.

The PS3 has to be connected to the internet for it to download patches. It should do it automatically as you start the game up.
