 My system is Windows XP SP3 DX9.0C. I've got the Steam version of Dragon Age 2. I hear the music fine, but there's no speech. The Steam version of Fallout3:New Vegas runs fine. I've had to turn on subtitles in DA2 in order to know what the characters are saying. Sound volume sliders in Options are at max. Curiously, DA2 never asked me for my registration code. Ideas?

I am having the same problem however I have the retail copy. Music and sound fine but the no audio. If I put the speaker to my ear I almost can hear something.

Windows 7 Ultimate
AMD Phenom II X4 920 2.80GHz
4 GB Ram
AMD 9670

check your audio settings in the config utility, enable the force stereo option and see if that helps. It's meant for headsets but I think it serves as a workaround for other audio setups too... there are other threads on this forum about it, so maybe someone else has posted another idea, too.

I had this same problem and DAEola's solution worked for me - in fact, it appears to have improved my sound in general - before hand I wasn't getting any stereo effects despite having a 5.1 audio setup.

Yep, enable of Forced Stereo fixed the problem - I use a headset and not speakers. Thanks!

This was the fix for me!! Thank you soo much! I was running around trying to find a non existant updated driver lols.. Really appreciate this.
