You know that is very true. She has that kind of weirdness about her that's entirely endearing and cute.

Yeah, everything before "A New Path," I was in complete support of everything Merrill was doing. However, once she said that she was going to talk to that damn demon again, and said that if anything bad were to happen, that I should slay her, I was like: D=. I went to Keeper Merathari immediately before I did anything.MasterSamson88 wrote...
I supported Merrill up until she told me she wanted to go back to Sundermount again and find the demon that started all this. As soon as she said that it raised a bunch of red flags cause I knew she was going way too far now. So I told her we should talk to Merathari about this...
In the end I guess Merrill learned that everything has a price. So I suppose she got a little wiser then.

Yeah, Merrill was so set in her ways I figured Merathari was about the only one who could fix things.
And she did fix things because she actually still really cared about Merrill. It's a shame that the rest of the clan never really learned this or understood it.

You know, that Luna Lovegood reference does ring very true.

Merrill is a solid character, easily one of my favorite companions (along with Carver and Verric), I had just one complaint about her, the white super friendship outfit looks really bad, like really bad, the green outfit was much easier on the eyes. Damn, she kicks ass in combat, stack CON, turn on Blood Magic, never run out of mana.
Holy **** I never thought about that. And you can use mana pots as health pots.

There's also a lot of stuff that gives you really good health regeneration.

Yeah, Eve Myles was an excellent choice for Merrill.

Yes, but did anyone else notice that the Welsh accent on Merrill varied wildly, sometimes even in midconversation.
Oh! Did anyone else notice the Merrill Side-Eye manuveur. I forget the moment, but shes commenting on how Hawkes attractive or want-able and and looks away, but her eyes suddenly look at Hawke for a fraction of a second before returning to their normal straight forward position.

How could you miss that? She is doe eyed after all.

That's another thing, she has probably the best banter, with Isabella in a close second.
Merrill: "Did you step on something sharp?
Fenris: "No."
Merrill: "Slam your fingers?"
Fenris: "No."
Merrill "Hit your head?"
Fenris: "Is there a reason for this endless questioning?"
Merill: "I just want to know why your cross all the time?"
Fenris: "Its because of the endless prodding."
I'm on my second playthrough, male this time, and intended on romancing Isabella, and fell in Merrill's trap for the second time. But its ok.

for example, if you don't give merrill the tool that she needs and try to persuade her to stop, do you still need to kill the keeper?

I know that after the keeper dies you can spare the clan by taking responsibility. But as for not killing the keeper? I really don't know. I haven't tried it yet.

The Keeper dies regardless if you do the quest. Otherwise, it's a bit more ambiguous if you don't.

I prefer the Keeper die protecting Merrill anyway. It seems a lot more dramatic. It's good story there.
