So I beat Da2. Romanced Merrill. Dealt with the glitch with her final quest were i had the post quest convo before we faced the demon. But I took it in stride and overall I really enjoyed her character. I felt that she was the best romance option in the dragon age games.

I just started Act 2 and every companion expect Merrill had a "catch up" quest and conversation. Is this a bug or does hers come later?

You only loose her for the rest of the fade.

Yeah I had gotten worried about that too, but its only a temp loss as he notes.
Anyone remeber what quest that is? I want to see if the Desire Demon tries to pick on your LI or whoever has the lowest Friendship or etc.

I'm failing horribly with Merrill, I'm nice to her I gain rivalry points, I'm nothing but an jerk more rivalry points, I'm just plain humorous more rivalry points. Just can't win with her, so I'm expecting to be stabbed in the back or something.

I think her Act 3 quest bugged out for me. I went to visit and she started babbling something about everyone being dead or something.
Saw some others had this problem. Is the quest gone or is it just the followup that's bugged?

I've been getting nothing but friendship points from Merrill. Never once have I gotten rivalry points. Either my game isn't bugged, or I've been lucky.
P.S. Merrill is my favorite love interest in any video game!!

Can somebody tell me what happens in a rivalmance with Merrill? If you don't give her the arulin'holm and keep telling her to lay off the blood magic and abandon the mirror project, while still loving her and cherishing her?
Does the final quest with her even happen the same way it did on Friendship path? Or does the Keeper hit tragedy some other way entirely?

To gain friendship, you pretty much have to keep her in your party for a chunk of the game, follow her suggestions she throws out, support her crazy ideas, and basically support mages. Since I was playing a wise-ass "good guy", even my saracastic teasing of her would net me Friendship points.
So if someone tells you "Don't go over there there is a GIANT DRAGON OVER THERE" and she says "Ooh are we going over there? I've never seen a Giant Dragon before." you better bust out the asbestos, its field trip time.

I really like Merrill as a character. She is just so positive, quirky and goofy/odd, but is a blood mage who consorts with demons. I just find that dynamic hilarious. Well, I also enjoy her party banter since it seems she lacks some social skills or something - and most of the time it turns out pretty humorous.
I usually had Fenris and Anders in my party along with Merrill. It was pretty funny how much those two hated Merrill and how badly they ripped into her.

There was one time when it was the opposite, during Night Terrors. She was super keen to go into the Fade with me and I was like "sure, let's go" and got rivalry points with her. Only time it happened though.
Was anyone else really worried she'd be gone for good once you took her to the Fade? The Keeper said a death in the Fade is.. er, really bad, don't remember her exact words. But I assumed that was going to happen to Merrill since I -did- strike her down after she turned on me.
And when she was okay after waking, I was worried the demon had possessed her after relinquishing its hold on the boy.
