Where's this quest in the fade? Do you have to be a mage in order to get this quest?

Also, just wanted to say that Merill's adorable almost to the point of physical illness. Don't ya just wanna squeeze her until she stops moving?

Merrill is great but the bugs that plague her questlines are so irritating :(.

I'm doing a Mage run right now and was dead set on romancing Isabela to explore that romance... but, ugh... I tend to hit Sundermount early because Fenris has awesome dialogue during the climax of that quest. But I just fell for her all over again. Its gonna be a crazy run 'cause I'm siding with the Templars. But at least now I know about Merrill's first gift during Act 2 to help assauge any rivalry gains from pro-templar stances.

Completed with Full Friendship Merrill.

Merrill + Varric + Aveline for the Whole Game.

The dynamic reminds me of having morrigan, sten & alistair in a party, loved it.

The random convo she has is priceless, hope she is in the next game.

I like her. Although she is not very cutesy, she is a very moe character. I love how naive she is, and how she is easily flustered by figurative language.

In the ending, Varric said my companions left while Isabela stayed with me. Does this change depending on who you romance, because I was with Merrill.

Did you sleep with Isabela? If so sometimes Varric will say she left with Hawke instead of Merrill.

Must be a bug.

To your first question, it happens in Act 2 with Feynriel, so you need to have done his quest in Act 1 in order to trigger Night Terrors in Act 2. Be warned that no matter how high your friendship/romance, even Merrill will turn on ya.

To your second question, yes!

Yeah, did earlier in Act 2. Hopefully it doesn't effect any future imports...

This is her rivalmance. I honestly prefer it because it's a lot heavier on the emotional side at the start.

But yeah any insight as to why we are seeing the demon would be nice.

When the clan confronts you and Merrill outside the cave after the Keeper has died, simply choose "I'll take Responsibility" on the converssationi wheel. That way you take responsibility for what she's done and they'll simply tell you to leave and never comeback.

Any other choice seems to spur them to try and kill you.

I think you also get +15 rival from that encounter as well. Though right after there will be a new quest available from her called "An Apology" or something. There she'll apologize to you for giving into her emotions, and through conversation choices you can get a +10 friendship from her to make up the difference a bit..

I was going to change my save and actually use someone else besides her but I ended up taking her with me to the fade anyway. Her turning on you and then apologizing seems to add a bit of character development really.

It does add some development, I think the 15 rivalry might emerge depending on the dialogue choices you make, as it did not for me.

Really? Well approval does seem really odd in the fade. I swear I choose the green option to try and talk her down too.

Oddly I think the sarcastic options work just as well for Merrill too sometimes.

Yeah I think so as well. Merrill doesn't respond well to harsh options, but she seems to do well with nice and also sarcastic at times, being the humorous person she is.

Well, the word naive could also be add to humerous, given her confusion over whether the Arishok's feet were responsible for any crises or not.

I played LadyHawke and was pleasantly surprised when Merril arrived at the Hawke Mansion.

Seems like I've misunderstood the rivalry romance then (or maybe I just don't understand rivalry since I always befriend everyone automatically). I still don't see how it makes any sense? Are you just supposed to disagree about everything, never give any gifts, go to hell with all the personal quests and it still ends up going all angsty "I LOVEZ YOU!!1" ?

Confused me is confused.

You can easily dislike someone, not agree with them or even hate them and still want to f**k them to little pieces. People are dynamic like that.

Since I'm to much of a goofy sissy, I'll just try to befriend her asap and then try to get all her mirror-bloodmagic ideas out of her head and see what happens. I feel like a pioneer!

The word weird sounds more appropriate, perhaps unexplainable at times. The Human Condition. =]
