I want to raise my lockpicking companion 2 CUN/1 DEX every level, but I'm not sure who that would benefit more. Would that be better for Isabela or Varric? The other one would get 2 DEX/1 CUN.
I'm leaning toward Varric since he's a ranged attacker. What do you think?
Which rogue is better for opening chests?

Except ranged usually works out better dex heavy while a dual weilder is better with a dex/cun balance or even cun heavy. Since lockpicking is completely driven by cunning, I would go with Izzy if not playing a dual wielder yourself.

I think now it is the opposite of DA origins. Cunning actually factors into defense according to the tooltips. So your DW rogue has more use of cunning. Increases defense, increases CH damage, and increases lock picking. In origins lock pickers were usually ranged bards because DW had too many necessary skills to spend on locks. Now cunning fits DW better. Ranged should be less worried about defense but the CH damage is nice.

I made Varric my lock picky guy....I add to his Dex and sprinkle a bit in Cun.....it took me a minute to figure out he's ranged....
