This error is preventing me from logging onto the bioware network in game....

The contents of the error are:

"The drive is not ready for use; its door may be open. Please check drive A: and make sure that a disk is inserted and the drive door is closed."

I don't have an A: drive. My CD/DVD drive is D:

Anyone know how to correct this?

Thanks,

I have this problem too. It is a game error. Some developer probably forgot to change the code and it linked to HIS/HER A:\\ drive for some temporary reason when they were testing it.

If you hit continue, you will see at the bottom of the screen, it says you are connected. So, it seems to just be a hicuup, but doesn't change your online status.

I'm getting this too. Kind of annoying but no big deal really.

Yes, I got that in the demo, and now in actual game as well, only I can click continue(or any pro,pt button) go ahead to logon to the network with no issues. It just says that the drive is not ready, I hit any button in the warning and the game goes on a normal. Mere minor annoyance for me, as long as it doesn't break the game.

Same issue here, but worse. If I click Continue or Retry, I get

There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \\Device\\Harddisk2\\DR2

Every time I click Retry, the error message repeats with the 2 changed to a 3, then a 4, then a 5. I then get an error message that I've been disconnected. I bought the game via Stardock Impulse. Help :(

I have the same exact issue when the game tries to login to my account. :( Has a request for drive A:... Who the heck has an A: drive these days?!?!
My DVD is letter E: my programs folder is on my D: drive and my OS resides on my SSD which is C:

I have the same issue ... three error message after pressing any key to continue
(using the digital downloaded version of the game)
the First is from DragonAge2.exe - Drive Not Ready for drive A ... Click Continue
Then I get (also from the main exe) -No Disk for \\Device\\Harddisk3\\DR3 ... Click Continue
Then I get (again from the main exe) -No Disk for \\Device\\Harddisk2\\DR2 ... Click Continue
Then i get (this time a game message not windows) You have lost your connection to the dragon age servers. You will be unable to access online features of the title until you connect again.

They are aware of the issue and are currently working on a Fix, be patient and use the search function.

By any chance, do you guys have a floppy enabled in the BIOS, but no actual floppy drive in the system? I was looking at thread about a somewhat different disc error, and this was causing it for a number of people.

this did the trick, just went into my BIOS and disabled the floppy drive. dunno why it was even on, prolly just a default setting i never bothered to change when i built the PC.

thanks for the awesome solution!

I did the same, disabled the floppy drive in my BIOS, and boom, everything is working fine now. Good idea and thanks for the help.

You can actually find a bunch of hits on Google about similar things happening on various versions of Windows with all sorts of different apps.  My rule of thumb for ages with new systems has been anything I don't need will be disabled in the BIOS with extreme prejudice at the first opportunity.  And it totally drives me nuts when a vendor decides that my options for some feature will be "Auto" and "Enabled".  Grrrr.

Disabling the non-existent floppy worked for me as well, thanks for the tip!

Unfortunately, I expect the majority of people out there don't even know what BIOS is, let alone know how to go in there and make changes. This is probably something the devs should get on fixing =)

I guess all BioWare programmers have floppy disks in their workstations. :-)

Nah. It's not that DA2 is actually trying to access that drive specifically.  It's Windows getting confused about the hardware.

Just as unfortunately, it's unlikely there's anything much they can do about it.  This is almost certainly a Windows issue, not the installer's (see the Google link I posted: happens with all sorts of software, and sometimes it's Windows itself that flips out).  It's just making a request to the OS, which is getting confused about the drives.

Reboot the machine, and hit "delete". Basically as soon as possible, as the option is generally only available for a brief window during the boot process.  When it's done checking all the hardware, it'll go into the BIOS setup menu. Consult your motherboard manual for exactly which menu item to select to change the floppy settings, but usually, it's the first or second on the list.

It's also possible "delete" isn't the key that opens the setup menu.  If that doesn't do it, again consult the motherboard manual.  99% of the time, however, that'll work.

If it's not DEL it's probably F2

An easier way to solve this is through the Device Manager (devmgmt.msc). Just disable the 'Floppy disk drive' - at least that worked for me. Happy gaming
