 Essentially, when I hit "ESC" the Dragon Age screen comes up but without any icons or options to choose from.  I can press "C" to get back to the game, but this rules out saving the game.  Any ideas?

Are you on a single-core machine? We've received reports of single-core machines having trouble saving.

I'm on a Mac dual core playing the game on XP using bootcamp.

I am having similar issues. I see the word save but its not highlighted and it wont let me chose it to save it. I also cant pick the automated save either.

Actually, I can press F5 to quicksave. It's just that when I press "Esc" to go to the menu, there are no options listed. I also noticed that its the same with my inventory screen. The character screen will come up which allows me to get back to the game itself but there's no point if you can't change your gear. Anybody else have this problem?

Are you sure the quicksave is working? Your problem sounds just like the one people are having with saving/loading.

There have been many multi-core reports on the same issue.

It appears to be working. It sounds like my problem is different than what I see other people reporting in that it sounds like they can actually see the options but the options are greyed out. In my case, there are no options, just the back ground screen. I haven't checked all menus yet but it this is the case for at least the main menu and inventory menu.
