I don't know why they had to fix what, in the first game, was not only not broke but worked perfectly

It seems with their new designs many characters suffer even more in the Uncanny Valley. In DAO lovable characters like Sandal and Dog had just the right look that you fell in love with them. Now Sandal looks like he will cut my throat while I sleep and be smiling the whole time and my Dog looks to have the same demon dog expression no matter what he is reacting to.
I miss the childlike appearance of Sandal and the English Mastif look of the Mabari. Why did they need to change?

I feel like the biggest faulter in the new Dragon Age "style is in many of the character designs.

I actually like the new mabari look. He looks more like a wardog and less like a pet. I can totally see him biting someone's neck off.

Well I feel like that's the problem, I think they could have found a middle ground where the dog could SHOW EXPRESSION and not just be a static evil face. The old look had so much character, I named my dog in DAO after my childhood dog because he reminded me so much of her (I had a Mastif growing up) and now it's just this emotionless dog that I feel zero connection to which makes me sad. I really like the idea of the dog being a pet summon and not taking up a companion slot (had that mod as a default in all my DAO games) but I still wanna connect to my dog!
And Sandal still creeps me right the hell out, and why does he have to dress the same as Bodahn? Neither of them look good in that costume model but Sandal just looks...wrong.

I like demonic-looking things...
But I definitely agree with you about Sandal. It seems like his face sticks out a bit too far. AND HIS VOICE!!!

Personally? I don't really love the new Sandal anymore than I do the old one, but I do admit, that when I saw him and heard him say "ENCHANTMENT!" (Even with his new "Puberty-induced" voice) It was hard to NOT throw my arms up in surprise/happiness that they brought him back.
Same reaction, i saw him at the end of an animation and i wasnt sure it was him, i was like, this look like sandal, when the animation finishes i went back and YEAH it's Him !

I like demonic-looking things...But I see your point about the mabari. I have four dogs myself! Aren't they wonderful animals?
But I definitely agree with you about Sandal. It seems like his face sticks out a bit too far. AND HIS VOICE!!!
Yes dogs are fantastic creatures (yay Dog people!)
And ya I think the most jarring thing about Sandal is his voice, I can look past his appearance (since so many people look worlds differant in appearance) but his voice just makes him so strange.

And personally it doesn't sound that drastically different to me. Other than Enchantment was said with more excitement in the prior game.
