How do I get Bartrand to leave the city and go on the Deep Roads quest?

He keeps telling me to finish up my business in the city. I've completed 2 other fairly long quests while I wait for him and he still says to finish up business.  Varric said I should maybe visit home before I leave so I have done that too. 

So far nothing has made Bartrand leave :\\

Can anyone who has beaten this part tell me what I have to do to make the Deep Roads Quest start?

you need to amass 50 gold, and get the maps from the grey warden. once you're able to go, your party members will continue to bug you about it until you go talk to him. Make sure you're all done, since you can't come back and do the sidequests once you leave.

didn't realiz this until after the deep roads quest. lost out on a decent amount of exp <_<

how to save up 50 gold ==ll each quest give me 0.50-5 gold but i spend at least 2 gold on potion each quest

bring two healers w/ you if you spend that much time healing...and stop spending coin at the blooming rose haha (that was my mistake..)

I'm starting to run out of quests, and bartrand still does not want to go.
i've paid him, i've given him a map, and he keeps telling me that i need to finish some business in the city >:/

is there a way to save up gold, if u already did all the side quests and such???

I'm having the same problem. I've given him 50 gold, I've given him the maps, and I've been cooling my heels in the city for awhile now.

Do you have to finish all of the minor quests before leaving?

I have two minor quests that I decided I didn't want to do -- I don't want to go kill some guy for my former mercenary captain. But I can't seem to decline the quest and have it go away. I was figuring that only main quests had to be finished before leaving, but Bartrand WON'T LEAVE.


Edited to Add:  Okay, I found out what the problem was.  There was one rumor I hadn't checked out, and it turned out that particular rumor turned into a main quest once it was checked out.  So if you've given the dwarf the money and the maps and he still won't leave, make sure you've checked out all of your rumors.

well lol i think i found the only way to get stuck in this game -.- i have done all the side quest besides 2, and one has broke on me. Ive look every where for battles and items all to save up 50g and im 10g shy of it i can sell my armor and stuff hehe but i kno it wont be enough

I was offered a chance to take on another investor a surly dwarf in the lower quarter.  He offered me the money to go on the trip for a cut of the profits.  This is probably a safety net to prevent just such an issue.

I find it odd people want to skip quests. Why skip game content? Isn't playing the game the reason you bought it?
