It's late, I've been up since the crack of dawn, and I need some sleep now.  Y'all remember that this guide is here and that a site: redirector is the best thing to use with a Google / Yahoo search among the archives, right?

Gorath

I think we know how to use google thanks.

No kidding. He should have stayed up later on other days to have solved these problems before releasing a game that, at least for me, is completely unplayable. I spent over an hour last night with tech support, and guess what? THEY couldn't solve the issues, either. Now it's been kicked up to a "higher level" to address, and guess what? I haven't heard back from them, either.

Meantime, I have a game I bought months ago on pre-order that's just taking up space on my hard drive because it WON'T WORK!

But Gorath's losing sleep! Boo hoooooooooooooooooooooo!

No kidding! my game is ruined! Every single piece of armor I pick up is restricted to the main character! so I can't outfit any of my companions with armor. how gay is that? And this dude needs sleep? HE'S BEEN SLEEPING WHILE THEY WERE MAKING THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you're going to SPAM it, we'll have it locked. I am the author, and if that's what I want, it will be what I get. Meanwhile, the thread is about REPORTING, not about sleep, not about the problems themselves, but about how to make talking about the problems easier to turn into diagnostic data.

Hello!

There is a silver "bar" in the top of my DA logon screen and in the game as well. I have installed patch 1.01. It was not in the demo. I have a 8800GT, and set the resolution to 1920x1200, my native res for my 24" monitor. I also set the renderer to dx11, altough my card is only dx10-capeable. Can this be the source of problem?
I repeat, the game had no such "silver bar" in the demo version with the same settings as above.

Ok. The problem was, no "Full screen mode" box was checked. Ok now! :)

Sorry, but you are in the wrong thread, and the wrong forum. Some few of Bioware's developers, including Rob Bartel, have spent some time so far in collecting new data, but he and the others can and will handle only a small minority of the message traffic that gets answered. This is gamers visiting with gamers mostly. I am a gamer.

This thread is about how gamers can make answering each other faster and better.

If you want Official Action, please contact EA through their Help Pages.

I am not answering questions such as yours here in this thread, as has been repeatedly advised. You must start your own message, and it would appreciated if you will edit this down to only a small stub containing the URL for your new message.

If you bought a Digital Download from another source, the EA Download Manager will fix this issue. It happened to me whth DAO and ME2 after an install on a new drive.

Before anything else, what to do about your unfinished game that you dumped off on us.

1. Check with nVidia to make sure that the latest drivers... you know,  support the game. Downloading a beta driver and expecting the public to modify an .inf file just to have a frame rate somewhere above "slide-show" is completely unacceptable.
2. Make sure that the DLC actually works.
3. Properly beta test.

All new games have a few problems but for the love of the Maker... I can't even get it to load into full screen let alone have a stable game. And for the record, my system specs are:

Windows 7 64bit Home
i7 920
12gb DDR3 RAM
500gb+ free on my drive
2 9800 GTs SLI'd

I can guarantee you that unless this gets resolved VERY quickly its going to effect sales on your future releases. If you can't get this right I'm certainly not going to purchase a system beast like Crysis 2.

I have bought DA II from Amazon and once I installed it I face the same problem. Re-installed it twice but alas nothing has worked so far (i plan to do a re-install later today).
One thing that bugs me is that when the Release check asked for the S/N of my copy (and i provided it), it displayed a message saying that my copy was not registered to me.
What can i do to fix this?

Don't ask in this message thread, that's one thing. It's not a thread made for that, and if necessary, I'll have it locked to eliminate the dilution.

I just wanted to say that I tried everything to get this game to run smoothly. I had jerky graphics and weird echoey and scratchy sound. Tried updating drivers etc all to no avail. Then I tried a new VGA cable - it wasn't that either but whilst I was at the back of the pc I noticed how warm the air being blown out was. I took off the side of the case (and left it off) and now the game runs smoothly and the sound issues are gone. I would never have believed it if it hadn't happened to me. Hope this might help someone else.
For the record I am running Windows 7 on a P4 3.3Ghz (single core) with 2 Meg of Ram and an AGP video card (Ati 4650) so I wasn't expecting much but its actually pretty good now.

When backuping my profile, accidently, I deleted profile.dap with all achievements. Is there a way to restore it from my savegames?

Solved. Just started on Easy and got all the achievements back in 30 minutes Posted Image

Ran into the same bug with "who needs' rescuing, Also I noticed that after a few hours of game play at some point my camera goes crazy and i can no longer see the graphics as they were intended (its all scattered), temporary work around is to save (which is hard to do) and then exit completely out of the game (this occurred four times in my complete play through) and then lastly (and this one annoys me) You can get both Merill and Isabella to fall in love with you in the end without any problem (they dont fight or make you choose one) and at the end of the game where it states that everyone leaves the hero except... it lists both names at the same time so its just meshed... NOT the biggest issue but still, need more creative QA testers to find stuff like this :D

Thanks for this thread Gorath, but did you or anyone else here have had any communication with Bioware reps regarding general bug reporting?

I'd be happy to participate and submit a few bug reports myself, but not without knowing whether reports are being reviewed by officials and passed on to the development team, where appropriate.

For me the game runs smoothly, no freezing etc... But, from time to time a BUG is stopping me from playing. I can't use right click, this happens during battles. What happens is that suddenly I can't select targets, move with right click, AoE spells are stuck around the character that is casting it, and when I manage to survive the battle with all this problems, I can't loot, move with right click, open doors, and the cursor is behaving as though it is over one of the characters. It looks like a conversational balloon, and no matter where on the screen I click, on the left click it selects random character, and on the right it is making that character talk. Do you know any way to fix this? Thanks in advance..

I had a simular problem, not sure about some of it though but sometimes I wouldn't be-able to right click anything or use any spells or what have you in-game. Clicking on a different party member than clicking back to your character seemed to solved this for me some how. You can try it.

Thanks man, I've found a solution a few days ago.

Its similar work-around. I just need to put the pointer over character portrait and that works too...

I too am having an issue with the mouse and framerates. I've noticed that unless I hold the right mouse button and move the mouse, even if it is just once and no more, the game becomes a bit laggy. It is still playable and I do find myself holding the right mouse button a lot to reorient the camera, so this is a minor problem.

My system exceeds the recommended specs for the game and I'm otherwise having a good time so far.

Specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad 9450 @ 2.66 GHz.
8GB of DDR2 RAM
Radeon HD 5850 (Note: I installed the beta 11.4 driver and this issue existed prior to doing so. Installing the driver did remove the random pauses I would get during NPC interactions.)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
1920x1200 resolution

part of the problem may be that your running home premium? Just throwing that out there.... My specs are similar... well kinda. I have a quad core processor, 8g DD3, the same video card, Win 7 64 prof. I'm running the graphics @ 1280x1024 w/direct x11. They work fine. I just have no audio, which is no biggy since my comp is in the living room I don't use the audio anyways. I love the captioning, because w/DAO I had to wear stupid head phones so my gf wouldn't b**** that my game sound was to loud or interrupting her tv.
