Since you can't just 'talk' to companions this time around, how do you get close to her?

I think I did her quest, the one for the guy with the poison. Now what? Do I just wait until she talks to me?

During conversation, you get flirt responses, you need to chose these now and again... generally you need a high degree of friendship/rivalry to get a romance started... but I don't believe you can start a romance with her until act 2.
