I played all day yesterday with no issues but today I am having freezes quite often. Sometimes they occur in 10-20 minutes and sometimes I can play for over an hour before it freezes.

The funny thing is when I alt-ctrl-del to end the process Dragon Age 2 goes to the menu and says "you have changed to window mode do you want to keep this setting?" It is still unresponsive however.

I have the same problem. Play for an hour or more sometimes and no freezes. Then suddenly it just hangs and the music keeps playing in the game. I CTRL+ALT+DEL and close the program and get back in to play. Makes me save a LOT in the game because I never know when its going to freeze again. Game is still smooth as silk though for me but this freezing is annoying. Hope they figure out why and patch it soon and quick.

I think the very highest setting in the game to apply to the graphics is very flawed. Stay off of that because it is blurry in all views and turning it down a notch to high settings fixed the visual and performance issues big time. Even the video for me now does not stutter of stopped since I applied high settings. Along with the high resolution text pack with it, no cost in performance. Managing 45-70 fps in all areas in the playable areas.

So, of course, I get the random freezing as well. I can go hours without it, or I can have it occur three times in ten minutes.

It either freeze stutters and recovers, or freezes and never recovers; if the latter, I kill the process in the task manager. If the former, I sit patiently watching my character move at like 0.00001 fps for 10-20 seconds before it recovers.

If it was the latter, than it shows up as "Not Responding" in task manager. After killing it, Windows 7 then pops up the lovely window about how Dragon Age has stopped responding blah blah blah find out what's wrong (lol, yea sure you will Windows).

Anyways, looking at the error report that Windows generates, they tend to look like this:

Problem Event Name: AppHangB1
Application Name: DragonAge2.exe
Application Version: 1.0.5174.0
Application Timestamp: 4d4b03e5

Additional Hang Signature 6: 63d9

It seems like a pretty generic error report though, so no idea how helpful it is.

I have not tried to play only in DX 9. Sorry, medium detail is just incredibly ugly compared to high or very high (shadows on armor are just incredibly pixelated on medium with high resolution textures). And since I can play for hours without a freeze, I'm not subjecting myself to ugly for hours on end just to see if it's a DirectX related issue. Someone more OCD can figure that out.

Anyways, usual blah blah. Beta drivers, blah blah blah.

Thanks for the bug reports. I've created a central sticky thread about the issue. Please continue the discussion there - http://social.biowar...0/index/6446649
