I just updated to the latest beta driver... I haven't played long enough to see if it crashes or not, however the game seems stuck at my native resolution for my monitor and any lower resolutions fill up that size on the screen with the remaining parts of the screen in black. I got the steam version so I'm unable to mess with compatability settings like the windows aero thing.

Here's what I'm playing with:
Alienware m17x
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU     P8700  @ 2.53GHz
Physical Memory: 3.999GB
GFX: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M x2 SLi 1GB VRAM Driver 267.24
OS: Win 7 Home Premium x64
Direct X 11 (Jun2010) or later

Mostly I'm annoyed because I play just about everything in high settings at 1680x1050 and I'm unable to do that with DA:II unless I want an inch border of black around my screen. Any help would be hot. I still haven't tested the crashing thing.

I'm having the same problem.  If I set the game to run fullscreen at 1680x1050, it gives me that size of screen in the middle of my desktop (though the rest of my desktop is visible behind it at the edges - unlike your black border).

I like to run games at non-native resolutions because it's like free anti-aliasing.

I've been encountering that problem too lately, any suggestions?
