I can also report, getting the exact same error...

DragonAge2.exe - Drive Not Ready:
The drive is not ready for use; its door may be open.  Please check drive A: and make sure that a disk is inserted and that the drive door is close

This is a very annoying problem.  Every time the app starts, it attempts to log into EAs network (my choice of selection) it runs for about 10 seconds, get a black screen in which I can not do anything within the application.  I have to ctl+alt+del to access the popup menu to select continue, which kicks me back to the game in black screen.  Alt tab out, come back in, I now have the initial game menu.  At this point, it tells me that it couldn't connect to EA and that I need to.  So I log in, works fine...  game runs at this point.

However that little process I just ran you all through, totally annoying and very tedious.  I had to restart the game a good 10 times tonight as I was trying to diagnose why my signature addition items were NOT showing up in the game.  Finally got it all figured out.

I do have another core complaint.  BRING THE OLD DOWNLOAD MANAGER FROM DA1 BACK INTO THIS GAME.  You've made it so friggen hard to do things now... its a pain in the rear!

My purchase was through Impulse.  My system is Windows 7 Pro 64bit, 8G DDR3 ram, 285GTX Nvidia graphics

Thanks

Oh I tried to reply to another thread with the drive not ready issue, and this forum said I didn't have rights. Sorry for starting a new thread, but its annoying when I can't tack onto an existing thread.

I had the same problem. This worked for me.
Disable your no-existing floppydrive and floppydrivecontroller in Device Management.
This should work

The patch should fix it.
