Do NOT take your sibling into the Deep Roads with you. She or he gets the taint and you have the choice of killing them off or turning them into the GWs. In short, you lose a companion. PAIN IN THE BUTT. Totally was using my sibling as my main warrior. =/

I didn't lose anyone in the deep roads (didn't take sibling.)

I will definitely not be taking my sibling into the Deep Roads on my next play through. I am going through as a mage this time. May I just say that the mage in DA2 is AMAZINGGG compared to DAO. =)

Is this possibly tied to your decision whether or not to deal with the (presumably Sloth) demon? I told him to ****** off, and lost my sister. If I'd agreed to help him, would getting the key from him somehow help me get out in less than the 5 days they said it would, saving her? I've already reloaded a save to shortly before i went to the deep roads, since bethany was my main mage, and I'll definitely not bring her, to be safe. But I still wonder if the demon is at all important, or is the only impact whether or not you have to fight that clusterf**k of minions he summons once you decide not to help him?

I'm trying not to spoil more than I should. Will Bethany leave you if she becomes a Warden? and can anyone else get tainted? yes/no would be cool

You lose your sibling regardless. If you leave them at home, Bethany joins the Circle and Carver joins the Templars.

This isn't accurate, as they become a Grey Warden if you bring Anders.
And they do come back in the 2nd and 3rd act briefly.

So I just came here because Bethany just died in the deep roads. So if I bring Anders the sibling will live and stay on your team? Because my Bethany is healer/Damage dealer. So my party is kind of screwed for like 5 levels if she is dead for good. Oh well, off to replay this part with a previous save.
Edit: Crud, it seems that no matter what she leave (http://dragonage.wik...i/Bethany_Hawke). Well I guess I get to play with Anders...shhhhhiiiiittttttt.

Thanks, having to replay that whole part and bring Anders this time. Losing Carver is painful even if he can be a brat...
