After getting a good look at the elves in DA2. The way their forehead, eyes and nose are designed remind me of the Navi from James Cameron's Avatar movie. Not that I'm complaining, it's just something I realized.

I was thinking similar, but mostly not with their looks, with their mannerisms. The way the Keeper spoke, and the way Merill was turning her head when we first meet her.

I like it. I've always felt that the elves in DAO look like cosplay humans with pointy ears. The DA2 version actually looks like a distinct race. Their eyes are especially striking.

That was my thought, too. Tiny, tiny Navi with skinny little arms.
Me, I'm complaining. ;)

Most are hideous. Fenris and Merrill are the best looking elves in the game, which I guess is a good thing. Marethari wasn't bad, though she creeped me out. But why humans should prefer elves' physical appearance- as the Blooming Rose shows is clearly the case- is beyond me.

It's probably because the elves are stigmatized in general society, so there's the whole erotic taboo thing going on.

"Avatar" was the first thought that came to mind the moment I saw them. xD

The elves certainly look different now. I guess it's a good thing that you can tell them clearly apart from the other races, but I much prefer them aesthetically in the first game - skinnier tinier humans with pointy ears.

Much to my surprise, I am actually glad I don't have the option to play as an elf.  I much preferred them in the first game, and please...  don't get me started on the accent.

I thought the same, though I love the accents.  That Dalish Irish guy talking about how many arrows are trained at me... sooo sexy, as long as I don't look at him.  lol

@ nranola:  Long time no see!!

A preference for female elves would really disturb me; in fact, Maric's elf fetish has become even more creepy than it originally was.

The way it looks its as if Merrill and Fenris are part of an entirely different Elven sub-species. Well, perhaps its for the best, now theyre ugly AND oppressed.

The elves just plain scare me now.

Hawke:... Is it looking at me?
Merrill: Hi! <3
Hawke: AGH! *runs away*

Yeah, wasn't too fond of the accent either. But thankfully it doesn't apply to all elves; only the Dalish have it, if I'm not mistaken. It makes sense that they would talk that way, living well away from human society and all. They sound really exotic.

@Addai- INORITE. <3 I miss you! I'll be stalking you guys one of these days. xD

I dont mind the faces at all, I like that they're different. The bodies.. They're too small, and frail. I get that they're trying to make them unique and "elvish" But.. really. Do they all have to look like they have the bodies of anorexic teenagers? If they kept the new stylized faces, but made the bodies more athletic, I'd find that better.

I'm so glad, I'm not the only one who thought this.
Though sadly, I think Zevran didn't fare well to the whole change. I think he looked better in Origins. But oddly enough I think it was an inprovement to Merrill.

I love this defense. What is the source of that elf anyways?

The Maric fangirl in me protests...  with Katriel he was seduced by believing he was doing good for someone weaker, and with Fiona, it was more a rivalry that became a friendship and mutual dependence in a nearly hopeless situation.  There were circumstances for both, I don't call that a fetish.

They remind me of Jak from the "Jak and Daxter" games...I keep expecting to see one with a orange weasel creature...but maybe its just the ridiculously long ears and pinched faces...

They don't remind me of the Na'vi, they remind me of deer. They've got a sylvan look about them, much ... oh! They really strike me as similar to the Faun in Pan's Labyrinth.

That said, I enjoy the new look. They're distinctive as a race now and have an otherworldly quality that I can see some humans being drawn to them.
