So, how long have you been a Mass Effect fan for?
I've been a fan ever since I saw an article about it in a magazine released the same month as the xbox 360 was brought out, so since about 2005. The article mostly contained content art and Bioware's plan for the series, but I was hooked. ME1 and ME2 have been some of the only games I've ever played that haven't dissappointed me (the others being the Orange Box, Red Alert 2 and Republic Commando). I'm not afraid to admit that I am a massive fan of the series and have been for a long time, and will likely continue to be long after ME3.
As for you guys, have you been a fan from the start? Or did you join the series later on?
(Feel free to say whether you're a bigger fan of one game over the other, but this thread is NOT to argue about it. If you don't like someone's opinion then please keep it to yourself or take the arguement to a different thread. We're all fans of the series - otherwise we wouldn't be on a forum dedicated to it).

Saw a trailer a while prior to release of ME1 and decided to give it a go.
Fan since I finished the first game. Damn it was epic!
Mass Effect is definitely the most interresting game franchise available.
DA2 is nice to bridge ME2 DLC and ME3 release.

I remember seeing a preview for it in some Game Informer edition or other, but it didn't really grab my attention until I saw one of the trailers that must have been pretty close to release. Wound up getting it for Christmas and it turned out to be pretty much my favorite game ever (no small feet considering I got the Orange Box that year too).
The rest is history.

I rented the 1st game from rogers video about a month after release it was one of the few new games out so I thought ide give it a go.
Im pretty sure I was hooked on mass effect by the time I got through the character customization.

When they announced Mass Effect in 2005 I was a little sceptical. As a hardcore Star Wars fan and not familiar with much other sci-fi I couldn't imagine myself enjoying shooting in a sci-fi game instead of swinging around with a lightsaber. Only after I saw footage shown at E3 '06 and X06 I was actually convinced I would buy it.

I played a bit of ME1 at an internet cafe, maybe 3 years ago. Wasn't amazed with it. Heard ME2 was coming, liked what I saw, decided to buy ME1. Played it again, slapped me in the face. How did I not realise how good it was, was hooked from then on.

Ha, come to think of it I think I stumbled on mass effect while searching for similar things to freelancer (fantastic game). Dunno how I remember that; although it's nothing like freelancer
, but it was the galaxy exploration part that hooked me.
Oh yeah and after kotor, I anticipated something great from the same company. X06 trailer sealed the deal.

Was intrigued enough by the E3 2006 demo that I bought it the minute it came out on PC (didn't buy an XBox360 until 2010...)

I uh... I am slightly ashamed to say that I only got ME1+2 in January this year, and so have only been with you since I started it up.

It was March 2008. It was my birthday and I was trying to decide between Mass Effect and Bioshock since I knew nothing about either of them so it was virtually a coin-flip. My posting here proves my choice and it was the best game choice I ever made. I still remember when I was in highschool one day in the library computer lab when I saw the first real teaser trailer of Legion (or assumed to be) with some N7 armor on him. My heart almost stopped for a second time and I was like

January 2010. Mass Effect was on sale on Steam for 3,75€ or something. My friend had been trying to convince me to buy it for quite long, but I neglected him because I've never really liked RPG's (aside from Pokemon
). Since it was that cheap, I though what the heck. One of the best bargains of my life. And thinking about it now, I could've missed out on these awesome games entirely. All because I was prejudiced about the genre. Crazy stuff.

Since September 2010. My brother was bugging me to play it but I refused before because I was sulking that they weren't doing KotOR 3.
Moved into my house for the 1st year of uni, got bored from the lack of xbox live, decided to finally give it ago and then realised is it the greatest game of all time. My stubborness almost cost me the chance to play this wonderful series. Am damn lucky.
