You can't honestly read those reviews and take them seriously. Disappointment or no, the game doesn't deserve a 0 on any account. Anyone who disagrees doesn't understand a thing about writing a proper review.

I can appreciate that some people don't like the game but surely only idiots would not realize that making constructive detailed reviews, even if scoring low would make their case far better. As such they are doing everyone, even those who want change a disservice. All this does it make metacritic pointless to get user opinion and will force companies to look at other places for user feedback.

It was obviously a /v/ raid.

I'm going to buy this about 6 months down the road, pick it up half price or so, exaclty what I did with origins.

Now, what game should I get?

1. Most of them are well thought-out, eloquent and rational, which if you're familiar with metacritic is exceptionally rare.

2. They are all harping on the same issues, in great detail. Very few are "OMG THIS SUXXX" raving.

This is not a /v/ raid, this is the result of completely alienating the core audience from the first game. People have opinions that are different than yours. Get over it.

If it was anything but 4chan, the critic scores would be at least ANYWHERE WITHIN THE VAGUEST BALLPARK the same as the user reviews. Either the critic scores would be like a 5 or the user reviews would be an average of 6. An average of 8.5 vs. 3? Uh, sorry, but you'd have to be pretty mental to buy a discrepancy like that.

Especially since they're almost all from March 8th--before a person could possibly have really seen the content.

Precisely. Reasonable people do not rate anything that actually is a game any lower than 1. If it installs and runs and you can shoot things, it at least rates a 1.

The reason the reviews sound marginally credible is that they did their research. The scale of the trolling is impressive, but it's still obviously trolling.

It's not being a "hater" to call out a terrible game for what it is.  The people giving the game 1s and 0s are doing so to bring down the metacritic average to more accurately reflect this.

If there weren't a bunch of irrational 10s then you might be right, the people with complaints would be hovering around the 4-5 mark.

Hell hath no fury like a traditional RPG player scorned.

No, but I think they accomplish their intended goal, which was to bring the average down to around 4, where it belongs.  This game is an insult, coming from a company like Bioware.

To be fair, if someone doesn't like a game they are not going to play through the entire thing just to write a review unless they are a professional reviewer being paid to do it.  Those who like it or don't immediately hate will probably play more before reviewing it.

After all it is just opinions, some of them are trolls some of them are dissapointed fans. It will always cause distress among the fans when a game company changes their style so much.

IF you had bothered to read any of the reviews, you'd see that they make valid points.

GameSpot gave "Dragon Age II" a 8.0.
GameSpot's critics gave it a 8.4.

However, the one that has the most impact... GameSpot's gamers (site visitors & consumers) gave "Dragon Age II" a 7.4.

GameSpot's User Rating (consumers) just fell to 7.3

Bioware has become very good at making shoddy casual rpgs, much to the disdain of it's fanbase, this is an unworthy successor to dragon age origins no improvements to graphics and gameplay was added, I felt physically ill after playing this game.

Seriously, pretty much 95% of user "reviews" have been "BAAAAAH BAAAAAH BAAAAH ME WANT ORIGINS AND 10000 RETURNING NPC BAAAAAH BAAAAH!!!!". It's starting to ****** me off. I don't even have the game yet but I know that I'll enjoy it. The demo wasn't that bad, a Bioware product can never be that bad.

Play a game that REALLY has horrific gameplay, play a game that REALLY has horrible graphics, play a game that REALLY has a bad story, characters and voice acting and THEN start ****ing about how bad this game supposedly is.

The thing about the "modern gamers" (read = spoiled kids) is that something that isn't top notch and 100% perfect simply isn't enough. They get angry cos' this isn't just a huge expansion of Origins (why the hell should it be?) and start trolling forums and review sites, trying to sabotage Bioware into making another generic, slow-paced, unicorn RPG.

Origins was enjoyable but having played the "standard RPGs" since the 90's, I'm kinda waiting for something a bit more fresh and different.

I could ignore all this trolling but it's infesting the gaming scene in nearly EVERY SINGLE goddamn forum. Every company. Every game. Elderscrolls community must be the only one that has been generally positive throughout the years.

No, but I think they accomplish their intended goal, which was to bring the average down to around 4, where it belongs.  This game is an insult, coming from a company like Bioware. 

The intended goal is to troll the game like the bunch of whiny fanboys that they obviously are. The game may not be your cup of tea, but it sure as hell in not a 4/10 and BioWare does not deserve to be punished simply because you and a bunch of purists who want games to remain stagnant don't like a few of the changes that make the game faster, more enjoyable and easier to manage.

Maybe that's because Every Game Company has started churning out cookie-cutter drivel, and your standards are just low enough to find that acceptable.
