Aren't we too paranoid? Reviewers being payed off and whatnot.
Given the history of EA games and the scores they get - especially bysome reviewers....Nah, not that far fetched at all.
Medal of Honor didn't get good reviews.

One of the comments in that vid said it best:
"No, this is what happens when games cost a ton to develop and there isn't enough room for risks. Bioware wants this game to reach COD-sales figures. To do that you have to please everyone and you cant have a game that caters to a specific audience, the RPG crowd, if you want to please everyone. Its not EAs fault. Its Bioware. Its not the same company as it was when Black Isle was close to them. Just let it go. Bioware has changed and they cant make a game like Baldurs Gate again."
The Golden Age is long gone. By now it's best to stop hoping for Bioware to make games of the same quality as they used to, and start looking for greener pastures.
My response to this.

Read all Metacritic reviews, both, critics and users and read a lot on these forums and after playing the game myself i honestly don't get it why so many ppl won't open their eyes.
Why do you want to disregard the user reviews as biased but would accept critics reviews as unbiased?
Actually i found a lot of truth in user reviews. Besides the obvious trolls and stupid reviews, there are many depth opinions by users who amazingly...matched with mine.
A long time Bioware fan, since the days of BG1, my respect and faith in them had gradually decreased though the years based only on their actions.
And now after DA2 i am certain for 1. There is no more Bioware. There is corporate EA. CEOs wanting 1 or 2 more millions only because they can get them and Bioware is sold and there is no more that Bioware from Alberta that made amazing games.
About DA2. It is a failure IMHO. Many of the points users have said are truth.
Gfx is better. I honestly don't get why they say it's worse than DAO, it is not. Granted it looks outdated for an AAA game, it's not the major thing i look for in such games and it's ok in this one, passable. Looks very bad at some points though, water is amazingly amateurishly made for one.
But as i said gfx is not so important for me.
Combat is really dumbed down, it's faster but it lacks any tactical insight. Whatever you do seems more like you are pushing buttons for just auto attacking but anyway you can't do anthing that would break or decide a battle. The exploding corpses, blood with the tons all over and all that gives a cheap feeling to that part of the game.
I won't make this a review but all seems lackluster. Cheap dialog, hollow characters, lack of areas, repeating dungeons...it has nothing to do with the art of making a deep, thrilling RPG game. It is very very far from the epic game DAO is.
It looks like a cheap mass market product and tbh i agree it fails.
I felt like an idiot, when the dialog wheel showed me the icons for good-bad-mocking it was...wtf..i am not a moron, give me the sentances i want to decide what to say and want it to have meaning.
I just felt...empty and not interested and not connected to the game.
Sorry i felt that way as i gave so much hope after really really loving DAO.
One thing i am happy for though, that i broke with my illusions and won't kiss EA's corporate ass and blindly defend a fail game and abuse to long time fans and RPG gamers.
If you were more object in reading all those negative user reviews you would notice that most ppl love and say that have played a lot DAO, so they shouldn't be dismissed so quick as Bioware haters.

That being said, I have noticed that over the recent years Bioware have steadily declined in their narrative and storytelling quality. They have YET to beat Baldurs Gate 2 & KOTOR in terms of gameplay and story. Tell me, have you seen any companions that were as memorable, deep and involving as the BG2 cast ? I just don't get it, they have access to larger resources, funds and possess even more talent than they did back then and for some reason they STILL can't output that level of quality.
That being said Bioware's titles have still been excellent in quality but steadily losing faith in the series, just like Fable (terrible terrible series..). Perhaps BG2 was a fluke ? Who knows. At least we have other great developers/games to look forward to including Skyrim, Deus Ex, Witcher and Diablo
Hell it's not even a RPG developer but Rockstar REALLY know how to make a top notch story with great characters.

They might have bought 5 or 10 reviews but DA2 will have 50+ reviews in a week.
We'll see what comes of this..
Just don't forget that pissing off EA is not a good thing. Given the amount of games they publish...sites or magazines could find themselves missing on a lot of exclusives.
Why buy someone off when you can threaten to hurt his buisness instead?

QFT!
DA2 is an average to decent game.
But it's not a true RPG anymore.

That reviewer hasnt reviewed an RPG since Alpha Protocol (if you can call that an RPG)

I haven't been to /v/ in a while (ever since my office added a web filter that classifies all of 4chan as "porn"), but if it is them, it's kind of funny and doesn't surprise me. They get whipped up into a frenzy so easily. Once they collectively decide to hate a game, there is no room for divergent opinion.

The 6 different users that suddenly appeared on the SN making threads such as "You mad, bioware?" and "You butthurt, bioware?" last night gave it away a tad.

Honestly, seeing the incredible hate for this game during its development and before release and the speed with which these user reviews pop up, I'm having trouble taking them serious.
Almost every single one talks about "RPG elements being removed" and whatnot, which is ultimately pointless without an explanation of what those elements are for them.
As some people noted, it wouldn't surprise me if this is 4chan.

Because negative reviews for DA2 MUST be trolls. It MUST be a raid. It CAN'T be true that DA2 is a ****ty game, after all. Protip: Having standards, and having taste in games doesn't make you elitist, it doesn't make you wrong, and it doesn't make you a troll either. It just means you're accustomed to receiving games of better quality than the trash Bioware is releasing these days. Unfortunately, for some of us, the day when we'll once more be graced by games as awesome as the Icewind Dale, and Baldur's Gate series, or Planescape: Torment, is growing more and more distant with each day more idiots like yourself populate the gaming industry's consumer base.

It's been released for one day - how many average gamers would be able to objectively review the game anyway? As far as I'm concerned none of the user voters on Metacritic are worth giving credence to, at this point.
And if it's some scheme to deliberately lower the score, then it makes it wholly inconsequential, and mostly sad.

Graphics Suck
Graphics are terrible
Graphics are lame
WHA Graphics graphics graphics graphics
Game looks awesome even on medium settings and even if they did suck I grew up where graphics meant nothing.
Really sad day when a game is merited on how it looks instead of how it plays (spoiler; it plays awesome)
@ Gleym it sure sounds like elitism when you consider it low standards from where I sit this game is high quality so I guess I have terrible taste in games.
You sound like my sister's fiance "as soon as a band makes it big their sell outs because they're making money."

Many of those ppl are giving actually valid points. Why would you say if it's so bad review it's a troll but then agree to good reviews? So the good one is bought?
I can't advise you to buy the game now, as atm i already consider it a waste of money, but ppl should really play it to see that many of those bad reviews actually have valid points and besides the stupid ones like "bad bad bad bad...." most of the users use facts and point exact weak points in the game to support their opinion.
And yes, some are very harsh. Yet, if a game can get 10 why wouldn't a game be able to be given 0 or 1? It expresses more of a expectation - reality feeling for me than actual ratings, but is still a sign.
And who goes high, falls hard, Bioware had built a good image and i think they just shat on it so the fall is even harder, hence the low scores from very disappointed fans.
