BioWare I will pay $5 for a DLC Combat Log if that's what it takes to get you to make one available...

You have a distribution channel and a demand. That should be enough to allow you the resources to craft one. Please, please, please do.
And if anyone else cares to pony up, please reply to this post. The greater the demand that can be shown for this content the more likely that BioWare, as a company that needs to profit to remain in business, is to produce it. Thank you.

Further, it has no effect on you. This DLC would be optional and purchasable. Thus it would have a playerbase willing to support its development through seperate funding. And as this is a single-player game, like you point out, it's not like others would have any advantage over you in any kind of competition style play. I can see no reason that this would be construed as a complaint, it is a request for a new feature and a statement that I would be willing to purchase this content if provided.
In fact many previous BioWare titles have had this feature, including Baldur's Gate and its Sequels and Expansions, Neverwinter Nights and its Expansions, and KotOR for the PC, though not for the XBox. This is not new ground for BioWare as a company, and it is certainly a feature that some gamers find appealing and useful.
Finally, while a Community provided Mod may be able to shoehorn in a combat log, it will never be as accurate or have as low an impact on the game's performance as one provided by the internal development team. So while a free version provided by the Community would be helpful, I'd still be willing to pay a premium, if necessary, to acquire this feature from the internal development team themselves.

But a combat log would be wonderful.

Min/max players they feel like they have to have the most damage possible which is pointless in a single player game. What are you going to do complain when you see an ability is not doing the damae you want or go on forums and say I got 600 damage in one hit beat that. Its pontless, Bioware top leading games didn't have this feature (Kotor, Mass Effect, Jade Empire) There will always be a need to complain about something.
Wait til someone makes a mod of it.
This is spot on.

The purpose of DLC is to add new playable content, not furnish the game with extra features.

Heck I'm even in for $5 US (which is like $20 Canadian).

Not the feature, I think the feature should have DEFINITELY been a part of the game, and that is why I would not be willing to pay extra for it. BioWare did not include a feature to their game that most of us, and them, know should have been a part of it, and would have been relatively easy to implement. So now I am going to pay them extra money for not including this feature in their game? Absolutely not.
What's next? We pay them to add better descriptions for spells and talents? Lets just pay BioWare extra to implement the features that they should have included in the game initially, great plan everyone.
Seriously, think about this before you actually make the comment, you do not want companies to start thinking that they could simply not include relatively fundamental features to their games (combat log is fundamental for a traditional rpg) and then charge us for it later because we are willing to pay for it.

I also hope there will be a patch/mod to give more detailed spells/abilities- discriptions. Basic dmg, basic stuntime etc. Also give me numbers on howmuch mana/sta a spell costs please. And add mana/sta-numbers on the portrets.
I love theorycrafting and numbers.
DA:O is possible (probably) the best game i ever played. Would be even better with these features included.
I can understand why bioware didnt include it (may be overwelming for many people etc), but to be able to toggle it on/off would be brilliant.

Every time I see someone make a comment like this, I cringe. What's next? DLC that unlokcs levels 5-10? Having to pay to advance the story line? Mark my words, it's coming. And the really sad thing? People will be ok with it.

It also adds to immersion, in real life (if magic existed) you wouldn't know that throwing an fireball would deal X points of damage, but you would know that it deals major damage.

I will not pay extra $$ for something that should have been in the game to begin with.

My fears as well.

Kotor did have a combat log, FYI.
Anyways, I agree with the combat log proving very useful in DA:O

- As for paying attention to the floating combat numbers, this is great if you're talking about a full resist on a damage type, but this does nothing to address partial resists nor other forms of damage mitigation.
- And I agree, seeing xp, items, money in such a log would also be great.
