Game attempts to access a: drive when connecting to DA2 servers; also can't get Black Emporium

System:
Gigabyte EP35C-DS3R w/ Intel Core2Duo E8400 (3ghz)
GeForce 8800GT
4gb RAM
150gb WD Raptor and 500gb generic-ish HDDs
Windows 7 64-bit

Each time I load the game, and each time I manually select the "Log In" option from the main menu, I'll get an error message pop up that says something along the lines of, "The device is not ready; please make sure there is a disc loaded in a: and try again." A: is my floppy drive. Every time this happens, if I just select "try again," it works. However, the game screen remains blank, so I have to alt-tab out and back in, and everything then works fine.

Also, while I've registered my PC version of DA2 and have entered the code that was included with the game for the Black Emporium/Mabari content, it isn't showing up in-game as available content.

Anyone else having either of these issues? Known fixes?

I don't know how to fix the A drive issue, but you need to manually download your DLC from "Your registered game content" under the profile menu. Click "More Info -PC" and download it from there. Then install it.

I am having the same A drive issue. it's not game breaking, but it is *incredibly* annoying.

Thank you for the info; will give this a go.

I don't know if this is also a known part of the problem, but I've noticed that the a: drive issue (or something else) is also causing my game to default to non-full-screen mode each time I start it for the first time.

Hey, I had the same problem. It's in your BIOS. If you don't have an A-Drive, go into your BIOS and check to see if an A-Drive is enabled, or included in the boot menu, and disable/remove it. Worked like a charm for me.

I have the same problem as the OP - it's very annoying as the game locks up after pressing Continue and I have to alt-tab out and back in before I can do anything.

Strange that a game that has nothing at all to do with the floppy drive should stumble over it like this, but it's not surprising that checking the A: drive is producing an error since I don't actually have an A: drive installed. Kind of my own fault for never bothering to disable it in the BIOS. Never really got round to it haha...

I actually do have an a: drive, so while I could disable it via BIOS, I think I'll just keep doing the "Try Again" and alt-tab out method until a patch is able to fix the issue. Mildly annoying, but not game-breaking.

Thank you for the solution, though. Good to know it would work if I get around to it.
