This was such an obligatory sequel. A lot of companies make games like this. There is a sea of mediocrity out there. Just look at EA Sports. But Dragon Age: Origins was a title that showed a lot of care and depth.
But not anymore.
Before you guys at BioWare spend all your credibility, you might want to remind yourselves what earned it for you in the first place. It wasn't games like these. It wasn't downloadable content out the wazoo. It wasn't creating a franchise advertised in the vein of Baldur's Gate, and then turning it into Mass Effect Fantasy.
Please note Dragon Age 2 is not registered under my account. Maybe it it goes on sale for -75% off I'll consider it. This is coming from a fan who has pre-ordered every other game you've made for the past TEN years.
I know my opinion is just one and doesn't amount to much, but since you guys were a company I really respected for artistic integrity, I thought I owed it to you to give you my honest opinion. Dragon Age 2 is crap, and if it weren't for EA, my guess is it'd be an entirely different game if it got made at all, and would've gotten the attention and care that Origins got.
To say that this game got as much attention and thought put into it as Origins had is a lie so blatant as to be insulting. There wasn't even a reason to be make a sequel to Origins... The story was over. So you just made another story, new characters, forget the Grey Wardens, forget the Archdemon being the end-all-be-all of anything, the main plot device of Origins was just a silly lie. Flashy cinematogrophy, blood spatters, cheesy one-liners, Sandal "humor", who needs originality or thought to make sequels like these?
You made this game because you could, because you realized that there is a new generation of gamers who have taken over the market, and as a whole, they're complete tools. Well done, enjoy your all-too-easily earned profits.
