Seriously what the...?  Did anyone fight Friedrich in the courtyard at Kirkwall on hard or higher difficulty?  Is it really a viable tactic to just run around in circles waiting for cooldowns?  Friedrich has more hitpoints than the Ogre it seems! (And he uses potions.)  I've been able to kill all of his buddies, but he just wearns my whole party down. (We only have 2 potions at this point in the game.) I can't get one shot in as he keeps staggering me. Sure, I can kite him to the Knight commander and make it an easy fight, but that just feels cheesy. I switched to normal mode and tore through this encounter like butter.  I want a little challenge but the jump up to Hard is is crazy.  Friedrich turns into a million hitpoint stunlocking potion chugging juggernaught.

There are quite a few fights in the game that are significantly more challenging if you're playing on Hard/Nightmare. If you're set on playing on high difficulty you may need to adopt a 'new' playstyle - I can assure you that if you're on nightmare you'll have to be 'cheesy' quite frequently if you want to avoid ye olde dirtnap.

Hello. :) Can you comment on that fight specifically? For the most part, I'm enjoying the new combat and the hectic pace and added difficulty from getting knocked around and having to worry about melee FF and stuff. In this particular case, though, I don't understand why you would make the enemies fire-immune. I mean, that very nearly eliminates Bethany from the fight (and I believe a PC mage also starts with a fire staff). I enjoy using my entire party to win fights, and the circumstances in this one work against that. Just curious.

I could comment but am currently holding my tongue for at least a week from launch, sorry. I've played through the game many times so my opinion will be very jaded and ruin the enjoyment of figuring it out for yourself.

What I can tell you, though, is that every enemy on Nightmare is immune to at least one type of element (your trusty Dog is immune to fire!) so you'll need to be very conscious of this, especially for Mage auto-attack.

I was merely implying that simply fighting enemies head on will not work in all situations. Sometimes you need to fall back a bit and regroup as you'll frequently get ambushed. The cheesy was in quotes as I was purposely echoing the users word choice for the strategy. Personally, I find tank and spank to be 'cheesy'.

That said, the encounter is certainly possibly to do without this strategy, I would just recommend it if you're having trouble.
