Also... does this mean that all Elves are descendants of Vladimir Putin?
Awesome comparison

I'm with you. They aren't suposed to look appealing to humans anyhow.
Except the codex in the first game says otherwise: elves are often kept on-hand by rich nobels because they're attractive.
The elves in this game do look... odd. Nothing at all like my City Elf from Origins, which is sort of sad. I understand the reasoning behind the redesign, I just think they missed the mark a little bit. Particularly considering the information we're provided in Origins.

Elves look like shaven goats with down syndrome to me now. I guess they were really trying to make players not miss being able to play as an elven PC in Origins?

Elves are supposed to be esthetically
pleasing for humans. There even was a codex entry in Origins in which it
was confirmed that elves can live a quite good life in Orlais because
nobles who can afford them keep them for their looks.
With that in mind they are 3 explanations why elves look ugly in DA II:
1. BioWare fail.
2. The is something wrong with Orleasians.
3. Free Marches elves are second rate mutants.

I love the direction they went with it. Elves shouldn't just look like short humans with pointy ears.
As for lore, perhaps elves look like that because they have vegan diets?

Bioware be trolling all the players who complained about the lack of an (female) elf romance in Origins is the only explanation that I can come up with. It's one way to stop people asking for female elves I suppose...

They didn't need to make them UGLY!!! They could of just kept them short and skinny and make their pointed ears bigger! Not turn them into bug eyed monsters!elearon1 wrote...

Agreed, I like the fact that the elves - and yes, also the Qunari - are much more distinct looking in this version. Are they more attractive than they were? Probably not, but then I didn't find the elves in DA:O that much more or less appealing than humans anyway - despite the knee jerk reaction of some people, different is good.

I fear this could be the truth, I'm now glad you can only be human in DA2 *shudder*
