That Norse elves art is very similar to what I went for in my elf wardens, well, slighter jaws and more defined mouths. I like them in DA2 in the context of everything looking slightly exaggerated and Flash toonish, but if they'd soften their facial features and just slightly bulk them up to maybe 3/4 that, they'd get that general feel and hit my personal sweet spot. Here's hoping for DA3, along with a return to multiple origins.

Generic beautified human with brighter color scheme and pointy ears. That's what Bioware want to avoid, I think. I like pretties, but I'm pretty tired of seeing those types of elves. I don't mind elves in DA2. But considering the fact that human in Thedas think elves are more beautiful and attractive than themselves, ... I think Bioware did something off in new design of elves.

Seriously who the hell thought it was remotely attractive? Or even believeable?

I thought Merril looked pretty horrid from the previews, but Id ecided to reserve judgement till after the game came out.

It's not even a question of beauty but of basic anatomy and bone structure. Who thought that the anorexic skeletal look was attractive?

On another note, these characetr portraits are garbage. Dunno why people are using them.

So, the more I play DA2 the more I think Elves are Fantasy jews... particularly with all the talking about the People... and how the language seems to draw on Hebrew for a base.

I liked how the elves looked, until I saw what Merrill wore in her romance scene. There is a fine line between thin and straight up emaciated.

Surprisingly, I like their slightly alien faces. Like, a lot. I think it might be one of my favorite changes to the races in this game. They're more animilistic. Kinda like the Na'vi form Avatar, except I hated that movie.

You know, I'm exceptionally displeased with this game. I am infuriated with what I see as slip-shod design, rushed work, and general slacking. I really can't get worked up about Bioware actually putting effort into the game, even if I disagree with it.

That said, I quite like the new elves. They look very alien, and it's much easier to view them as "other" than as just humans with knifey ears.

When I first started playing Origins as a human noble, I thought Iona was a human for the longest time. When I decided to speak to her in the study after 3-4 playthroughs, I realized to my shock that she was an elf. Simply because her ears were covered, I was unable to tell she was an elf and I'm not the only one who feels the same.

I can make a human character and elf character look exactly alike except for the ears, which is their only unique trait. It's all that stands out for an elf, they are human with pointy ears. If you gave Soris some human ears, he'd be as human as Alistair and Teagan.

I much prefer the DA2 elves and I don't consider them ridiculous and anorexic, I consider themselves different than humans and lithe. Which fits with what we've heard because elves aren't supposed to look like humans, they are supposed to appear exotic and elegant.

If I had the choice between the DA:O elves or DA2 elves, I'd always pick the DA2 elves. I don't care about anybody's city elf / dalish elf Warden looking any different or their interests in things looking like this. I'm a fan of different species looking different.

Looks like a stereotypical standard of human beauty instead of an interesting race, if you removed the ears they'd look like any other anime character.

well, if you place an anime character in a western-style setting/game wouldn't it look alien enough? what I say is that this could properly be made to implement anime-ish elves into DA
