Hello folks!
I have to admit, they are never my strong suit and I noticed there really isn't a decent 'all inclusive' guide yet. Knowing that I could definitely use the help here, what are your favorite party members to use and their current tactics? I was able to steam roll most of Act 1, but near the end I really began to struggle with my mage. My party members just didn't seem smart enough without intensive micro-managing and Aveline had trouble keeping enemy attention. It got me to thinking that maybe I ought to tweak their conditionals beyond the presets.

Playing on Nightmare Difficulty I've had to ignore anything but the most basic tactics. Things like (Enemy Any --> Use this basic non AOE ability). Just can't afford to have the party running around doing their own thing because a tactic triggered causing them to attack an archer in the back.
I would just set tactics up to automate basic abilities after you've already told them to engage a specific target. Things like Enemy Any --> Spirit Bolt/Pommel Strike/Shield Bash etc... while handling things like taunt/mighty blow, and most importantly who the character attacks, personally.

I have to agree with iLogic. Controlling every ability use of each party member is too important--sorry, can't help you on the tactics. Otherwise, though, it looks like what worked for you in Origins will work in DA2. I could link you a thread on Origins tactics, if you like.
One thing I can say is that I typically have party members work in teams of two. Aveline is set to attack nearest with Varric attacking her target. My warrior attacks nearest and Bethany assists her. The reason I use attack nearest is that it keeps them attacking whoever I set them on (they're melee) and keeps them from running around unless I want them to.
