Now I pretty much follow agree. DA2 is completely Dumbed down. Its shocking. I felt like I was seeing another C&C 4. To me they have killed Dragon Age with this. Unless they return to the DAO ways.

I was also shocked.  The game has lost a lot of artistry for me.  DAO felt organic and natural, but this game is wrapped up in bright shiny colors, zipping around.

Anyway, I cosign this, particularly for the weapon swap option.  I really miss it for my rogues.

I really don't understand not having weapon swap.

Good points. I can certainly second that, ESPECIALLY the camera.

Personally I would also love to have combat be a little less ridiculous. Platemail and (especially 2h) weapons are NOT weightless. Please stop zipping around like they made you faster instead of slower... Also, someone hit by a claymore does NOT explode into 20 gallons of blood and dozens of bits of gore.

[EDIT]
As requested, I changed "Your PC fans" to "Some of us (on PC)". Sorry for that, I didn't expect those replies since the first thing I stated is to reply only if you agree. If you don't well, don't reply. I'm pretty sure that if they implement those changes and you are not part of this thread, it won't affect you in any way.

You should have seen that coming. ;) Even if the game caused horrible mutations some people would be like "Dude, don't complain about that, I love my second head! finally I got someone to talk to!".

yeah hehe. I was more focused on the content than this, and I've been corrected many times. Now I do correct others as a revenge ;)

100% agree with everything in the OP post! I would also like to add in the ability to remove autolocking for targeting. I want to play on nightmare, but the damn autolock is somewhat prohibitive when ff is on. However, I suspect this issue would be corrected if the camera were able to move around like DAO.

Great post!

Done, thanks !

Speaking for this pc-player:

- isometric view or detachable camera. Clicking just isn't so much fun when there are lots of things in the way.
- deeper combat on harder settings, not just more damage. Bring back silence, anti-magic bubbles and anti-anti-magic. Not just dispel for everything and the only cc ability is stun (sleep = stun).
- individual hold orders and/or better ai.
- queable action. Not only in spells but in targets as well. (hitting target A with a fireball, hitting target B with somehting else)

Please add the ability to customize companion armor and specializations.

I would. I share this 100%. But this would be a major change that I don't think Bioware can do even if they were convinced, so it doesn't fit in the "small changes". I think we have to rely on modders for that. Fortunately, DA modders are really great, so it's probably just a matter of time.

Singed.

Just a quick thought on the queueing of actions. The argument from BioWare is that it made combat far too easy. The problem I have is that technically we do have queued actions. They're in the tactics slots. You don't see them as an action on the screen, but your NPC will check each rule for each turn and action the first applicable rule.

So Bioware are being slightly irrational when stating that queued actions make the game easier. In DA: O using the Advanced Tactics mod (Anakin) it was possible to create 30+ rules. My team spanked the crap out of the enemy and I had no need to switch to an NPC as a result of complex AI programming.

These are good points, Bioware better build up some reputation among their fans if they desire to sell another title as well as they sold DA:O -- and DA2's initial sales.

Some of these points might be good to be on consoles too though.

Signed. And I'd go further with "Hold" ... make it do what it says. At the moment it's more like NWN's "follow me at a distance" option.

I agree with the majority of what's listed in the OP at this time. Much like they did with the ME1->ME2 transition, BioWare took out a lot of what made the game feel more like a PC game and less like a console game. That sucks.

But while we're at it, can we add "remove the DRM that doesn't work on thousands of PCs so that your customers can actually play the game"? Please? :(

i completely agree.. lets face it.   to all you who disagree and say that the game doesnt need it.  i can see your point of view, HOWEVER. you may be a fan of dragon age.. MANY of us are jsut plain fans of biowares rpg's  Dragon Age is the sucessor to baldurs gate, icewindale, neverwinter nights, ECT.  in those game with the exception of neverwinter nights 2 there was no third person camera.. to be quite honest to see bioware take what was the original camera ( the iso view) OUT in favor of a camera system that has only just recently become a part of their games is absolutly ludicris.  it is butchery of everthing they have done in the past.. it is like saying **** you to all the games that made them famous and allowed them to make dragon age.. for god sake ITS AN RPG.  and a PC rpg to boot, it just hasto be on console because so amny gamers have one.. BUT bioware is turing its back on all that made them what they are: the pc gamers!!!!  they just want more money they dont give a **** about us or weather it cuts our very souls to see our beloved genre turn into a simplistic, non adventurous, non tactical game.  come to think of it the way dragon age is heading its not even hardly an rpg anymore in the classic sence.. its a trippl A money making title with no love or care put into it and only greenbacks on the minds of the executive telling the programmers what to do.. for god sake the lead designer of DA:O wasnt even happy about the changes and said that bioware basicaly took the power away from him and turned it into a corperate machine.. anyway DA2 isnt a bad game atall i just hope that its not the start of a downward spiral into crap games that have a sequil every year.  these changes, ESPECIALY the ISO view, Weapon sets and bein g able to set individual characters on hold are a nescessity in my mind and it is straight up blasphemy and betrayal of everything the genre and series is to take them out....   DA2 would be a whole lot better game with them.  i am sick of getting pissed off cause i cant cast a spell whee i want it cause the camera view is ****ed. it just plain doesnt make any sence!!!!!!Image IPB

I don't think any PC user is glad that iso view is removed and if you are then ...

Well, you'd be thinking wrong. I didnt use isometric in DAO and I havent even noticed that its missing from DA 2.

PS: Its also helpful if you post a topic about a petition to actually have a...petition, perhaps?

Please join us here @ Dragon Age Wiki Forums to help create Dragon Age Preference Survey.

A Little Details:
I'm thinking about creating a Preference Survey for users to select Which of the Changes they Like/Dislike in Dragon Age 2 so we can hopefully get a better view of public opinions. A Survey/Poll in this form should do a better job in summarizing these details in  form of numbers rather than rant, long paragraphs, or essays.

I've been wanting to take such Survey for quite some time now, although I have yet to see any as detailed. I think it would be a good idea if we can create one together as there's no way I can thoroughly complete this by myself. So I'm asking anyone with good intention for a better Dragon Age 3 to help me with it.

Please also note that the list is restricted only to Game Mechanics and not the Story itself. Story and Characters Preferences such as "not being able to play Hawke as a Dwarf" or "Kirkwall sucks" really isn't going to help as the Story and Characters are, after all, BioWare's property.

 Hi,

this is maybe a bold move or it will give nothing at all, but still I'm trying to provoke something here. If you agree with this post, please keep it alive by replying/agreeing to it.

I've been a huge fan of Dragon Age Origins and the tactical aspect of the game. I loved it. I played Nightmare (except Hard for the first) and the tactical aspect was plain fun. Many will argue that Dragon Age 2 is a step back from Origins, but unfortunately, this is Dragon Age 2 and we have to live with it, love it or not (if you bought it hehe).

So according to what I read on the forum, there are some features that are really missing, and bugs that's making some gamers (on PC) angry.

1- Feature: Please give us back the tactical view (zoomed out camera) or a detachable camera;
2- Feature: Please give us back the 2nd weapon slot;
3- Feature: Please have one queue for actions on all characters (or no broken action on hit);
4- Bug: Please fix the import problem (alond with the decision flags problem)

(Updated 10-03-2011)
5- The toolset!!!  <----- Probably the most important item of the list!
(Updated 11-03-2011)
6- Feature: The ability to tell party members, individualy, to hold position instead of a global setting;
7- Get rid of secuROM, as advertized prior to release; [REMOVED]
(Updated 28-03-2011)
8- Feature: Autolocking for targetting ON/OFF option (to help place AoE effects;

1) Yes, PLEASE!

2) Wouldn't object, but not high on my priority list.

3) Yes!

4) They're on it. C'mon Patch 1.03!!!

5) Oh Maker, SO signed!!!

6) Would be neat.

7) Taken care of now, I think?

8) Would be lovely.

Good petition, please Bioware, consider these things for future PC releases. :)
