Know if they are actually shifting orders? I'm still seeing "not yet shipped" it seems a little dubious i'm expecting them to tell me nothing until i email them to be told "yeah uh we can't give you that one now so order the regular game"

I have but mine is in the same boat. Says estimated dispatch is the 10th. Check your bank account and see if they have taken the money out yet, they tried to take my payment yesterday morning but I hadn't paid the cash in yet and had to get them to retry. When I did the dispatch date was changed to tomorrow.

Edit: Theres a chance they just haven't updated the system so your best bet is to check your bank account online and see if the money has been removed from your balance. I just checked mine and it hasn't been taken yet.

Checked my bank statement and the only amazon payment is for something else i ordered. At least you guys got a dispatch estimate all i got is delivary estimate 11th March XD

Only downside with Amazon is they pull this crap with pre orders and send them out last minute. I guess if it says dispatch estimate the 10th on yours i'll just assume it'll get sent out tomorrow.

I've ordered it through Amazon. They don't normally indicate it's "despatching soon" until the day before it's due to arrive, sometimes not until evening. But, likewise, I'm rather concerned about something going wrong given the history of the Signature Edition fiasco and won't believe that no further problems will arise until it's in my hands.

It is a worry considering the ammount of problems related to UK retailers i've been checking my open orders every few minutes pacing around mumbling about "what if i don;t get it" and being told to shut up or go read or something XD

Oh, shut up or go read or something! :P

Though not quite every few minutes, I have been keeping a nervous eye on my order.  I'm just waiting for it to go all trousers on me.

I think the rest of the world's release date is a few days after the US release date.

That was pretty much exactly what she said and after more pacing something along the lines of "if you shut up now i will buy you a copy from ebay if you don't get one from Amazon"

Same here, though without the mumbling and pacing. More casual interest while waiting for something to go horribly wrong. Even if they are sent tomorrow theres still a good chance of you getting it on Friday, last thing I ordered was at around 4pm on a Wednesday afternoon, I got my package the next morning at about 9am. That had to travel across the sea to get here too.

Blergh, send me my DA2 now Amazon!11!!one! 's Not like you don't have it in stock already. Then there would be a chance I'd have it on Friday already, knowing it's usually 2-3 days for any of my Amazon orders to arrive.

At least they're not Play.com. I decided to stop using them after the 5th time that something went HORRIBLY wrong.

Though there's also the Belgian national postal services involved for me, and their ****tiness is prolly almost on par with that of Royal Mail.

OH DEAR BOB WHAT WILL I DO WHILE WAITING??? ....well, besides playing any of the dozen or so games left unplayed that I got. ....and 2500 pages worth of books left unread.

You let Play, com screw you over 5 times before you stopped using them? I thought i was bad for still using Amazon after them screwing me over the one time XD

Still patiently waiting for my Amazon.co.uk ordered copy of DA2 SE.

I boycotted Play.com for over a year when they messed around with an order; they lost a fair bit of custom then.

Well I sorta mananged to clear things up in 2 of those cases. And more importantly, I simply was even cheaper then than I am now, and play.com was the cheapest option for me back then (which changed ever since they started charging non UK customers in euros instead of in quids).
The time they lost me my order of the special anniversary edition of LotR was what finally did it. SO...MUCH...ANGER.

Now I've had some 30-40 orders, almost all multiple items, with Amazon in the past few years, every single one without any kind of problem. And it's only gotten better now that they've extended their free delivery to several other countries besides the UK.

The whole thing with those pre-order items sucks though....whoever is at fault.

I think this is the last time I'm going to pre-order online, I only did it because of the S.E. thing. I can't be dealing with all this hassle and waiting. I would prefer to be dealing with people face to face where punching is always an option.

@Morbo: Apparently the Sword and Shield are included in the game without inputting any sort of code, according to a few people in the DA2 forum. I'm mystified as my mate gave me one of the codes yesterday. So it seems they do exist but you don't really need them.

Yes with Amazon you complain when they screw you over and you get some copy/paste reply from Tazik or whatever from some foreign customer support centre that don't actually know anything at all then a few days later you get a reply from a person who does know like "yeah uh we over reserved stock and ran out so we can't offer you that collectors edition anymore" if that was face to face i probably would have teared the guy a new hole.

I've found Amazon are normally very good with this sort of thing (although your point about the outsourced customer service stands nonetheless) but there does seem to be a major problem with games.  I can't help but conclude that the fault lies with the publishers rather than with Amazon: considering that the likes of EA have form for this sort of thing, it'll take something pretty convincing for me not to give Amazon the benefit of the doubt here, especially as other retailers seem to have the same sort of problems.

I do wonder just how much good will has been squandered thanks to pissing people about, though.  Nobody who's involved has come out of this smelling particularly good, but some smell worse than others.

With problems like this you do need to start looking further into the source and find out who is doing what wrong and why. Certain people should be held accountable for making promises they can't keep otherwisde customer trust will just spiral down to the point of it causing major sales losses.

In this case somewhere within EA they need to be looking at what went wrong and ways to make sure it doesn't happen in future.

You know they are going to paint it as a massive success though. Give it a month or so and there will be a story on CVG or somewhere with someone in EA, possibly even one of the doctors claiming that it was a huge success and a model for the future. I just dread whats going to happen with ME3.

You don't see problems like this for the US release.

We've pretty much always had it rough here in terms of games. This'll be the last time I'll pre-order a game with a cut-off date for special editions like the one for DA2 though. Too much faffing about for my liking.

From my perspective as a customer, even more important than who cocked up is who steps forward to help--and who doesn't.  Amazon have been rather underwhelming in this regard, but it does seem that the lion's share of fail sits with EA: their customers have been pretty much entirely ignored, told to bother someone else or even on the receiving end of out-and-out rudeness for complaining, which is a huge no-no.

Additionally, for a company that's on such a crusade against piracy, keeping people on their side is absolutely essential since they'll never win by force.  This sort of thing does not keep people on their side.

It seems in future to avoid people being let down with these offers people need to work out how to help their customers instead of shrugging their shoulders and saying they can't do anything about it which has been the case lately.

Yeah, a lot of gaffes can be forgiven if the customer support is communicative and polite. On the other hand, bad customer service tends to alienate people regardless of any other factors, good or bad. This hasn't exactly been Bioware's finest moment; hopefully they'll learn from it.

Of course that doesn't mean that other problems shouldn't also be addressed. The Signature Edition's whole release and the DLC malarky was insanely complicated and poorly thought out and was an accident waiting to happen. Or several accidents, as turned out to be the case.

Ah, progress: its status has been updated to "dispatching soon", earlier than expected. Now all I have to do is hope 1) the postman doesn't lose it and 2) it is actually the Signature Edition.

Oh mine too. Although it may have said that earlier and I just didn't notice. But they have now debited the money from my account so the wheels have been greased and theres a chance we could have our copies by friday and a chance they will be actual signature editions. I wonder if Amazon work throughout the night?
