DA:O was an amazing PC game.
DA:2 is an amazing console game.

Trying to compare them PC to PC or Console to Console will lead to dissapointment, because the medium in which it is best viewed has changed. The real reason for the demo in my opinion was to showcase this change. To show people that, "Hey, we're trying something new this time around guys. Be ready for it."

The changes brought about from Origins to DA:2 showcase a different point of view of the same world. Origins laid down the framework and created an amazing world that was rich and full of depth. DA:2 continues to build off of what was created, and the reinterpretation of Ferelden is one that is gritty, and full of over the top action. The change of artwork/ faster pace works great when you remember the perspective of where the story is actually coming from; Varric.

The tactical depth is still there, even more so in DA:2 in my experience. Battles unfold as they are fought, repositioning is key, and tactics are actually useful this time around. Combat actually feels frantic, hectic, and more engaging than the laid-back, here's what your fighting, how will you do it feel of DA:O (which isn't a bad thing in either case!).

Character Specializations & Skilltrees are by far the best improvement between the two in my eyes. Just the sheer amount of abilities at your disposal for each class, combined with cross-class combo's just add to the depth of strategy that one can devise. Each class in general has it's own feel. Rogues and Warriors are much more defined as seperate entities, instead of the fuzzy, everyone can dual wield inbetween. 2h Warriors are vastly superior to their Origins counterparts, and even rogues feel more rogueish. The raw power of mages is a sight to behold as well.

One downside though, is that friendly-fire only makes an appearance in Nightmare mode this time around. But with the availability of AoE moves by all classes this isn't necessarily a bad thing. The game is just as challenging with even larger swarms of darkspawn coming at you this time around.

I shall be updating this as I progress into DA:2, to give a better overall picture of what to expect from the game. One thing to keep in mind as that even though Origins and DA:2 take place in the same world with MANY of the same characters and locations, the games should be viewed seperately and for what they really are. Amazing games that are both rich and full of tactical depth that will keep you entertained for hours upon hours.
