I bought and downloaded my ME 2 from the EA store. When I tried to install it, I got this message:
error: The VC++ runtime redistributable package was not installed successfully. Setup cannot continue.
Any idea how to fix this?

figured out. in case anyone else has this problem, you can go this file:
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Electronic Arts\\Mass Effect™ 2\\__Installer\\DISK1\\docs\\localization
go to the line:
installvcredist=1
change the 1 to 0. worked great.

Glad to hear you got it sorted. I hope you do have the runtimes installed though, contrary to what the ME2 installer thinks; presumably the game will need them.
If you or anyone who comes across this thread wants to make sure the runtime is installed, you can try the package that comes with the game that will be somewhere on disc or in the install directory, or download it from Microsoft here.

I had it installed. I assume that's the reason why it gave me the error, but thanks for the info.
