How to stop dog barking when in camp? He barks all the way through conversations with companions in camp. I find it very distracting, to the point of not bothering to talk to companions at camp.
If I knew he'd bark all the time, I wouldn't have picked him up.

I find it very annoying as well, not sure what to do about it.

Haha very realistic. Any dog that spends majority of its time outside and is not a indoor pet, will bark. A lot. Especially a mabari war hound! Alistar and the dog are the best companions.
Oh and about your question, no idea how to make him stop. Trying giving him a lamb chop?

You shouldn't stop talking to your companions at camp, it really stops you from getting side quests and information. Just turn on subtitles, and ditch the dog on your next playthrough. (Although he is pure epic.)

Tell him in a firm voice 'No'

Exercise, then discipline, followed by affection.

There's got to be a Muzzle gift somewhere. Or one of those shock collars.

My real life dogs start barking if I stay in camp too long. Normally that's not a problem unless I'm trying to play early or late while my wife is still sleeping.

In real life I could walk away from the dog, at least to the point where I could clearly hear the companion talking. The dog is on a behaviour loop.

Maybe the dog is jealous of your own successful romances. After the dog's stint with Morrigan, maybe he is just looking for a love of his own.

Really? The dog barking distracts you? Wow. Attention span of a 4-year old?

I don't have trouble following the converstions but good god how I wish I could shut him up. I don't know if I'll have the will to start a second playthrough when I'm done but if I do, first thing I'll try is to get the dog to leave the party the same way some of my party members have a dialogue option to do that.

Meh, he doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I barely notice it.
I guess that's what happens when you've been living with dogs your entire life.

I agree the barking needs to be toned way, way down in camp. I'd like to have a conversation without the incessant barking in the background. I guess I'll just not pick him up as a party member next time.

He whines a lot when you take him out as part of the active party, too. I don't mind it, but I always wonder if he's trying to tell me something or if his whines and barks are just fluff. I don't mean the interjections, either - I mean my PC will be in conversation mode and I can hear Dog whining in the background. It's puzzling.

It makes the camp sound like a trailer park. I've been waiting for an NPC to roll up with a covered wagon and offer me a bag of weed and/or his 15 year old daughter. I wanna get the retard high and have the daughter lick Alistairs lamp post... in the winter.

I was gonna say that.
The dog barking in the camp is a lot less of a disturbance than my real life dog barking at the mailman and everyone and everything walking down "his" sidewalk.
edit: typo

I just picked up a great new party member to bring the dog under control, Caesar Milan. He's epic.

I killed him in his cage on the 2nd game for that reason.

It is annoying they should have an option to "turn him off" i dont put him in my party when in camp anymore for that reason!
ps if you dont want him in your second game, just dont return the herb he needs, You wont have to harm him if you want to be "good" then, he just wont turn up later in the game.

The most annoying sound effect in the game is the random thunderous banging as you walk through any given area.
They put in the loud thunderous banging to startle you from time to time in areas where conflict can take place, but after being startled once or twice I find the random "bang bang bang bang" annoying as it could possibly be.
At times the banging doesn't make any sense to me and becomes more of a deterent to enjoying the game than anything else.
So, I can deal with the dog barking, but this annoying crap is....arrrgh.

I found it highly annoying, too. Especially since I live in an apartment and feel like I need to turn the sound way down lest the neighbors hear. My walls aren't that thin, but when you're playing late at night/early in the morning I figure it's better to err on the side of courtesy.
I did finally have to turn the subtitles on so that I could actually understand what people were saying because I kept dropping words when the dog barked too loudly over them. I think turning down the sound effects helps, but then everything else is quieter.
It sounds like maybe people who live with dogs don't notice it, but I've always been a cat person and currently don't have an animal so it's more irritating than anything. It would be nice if you could either turn the dog down as a separate option or even just give him a treat so he'll be quiet for a certain period of time. I really like the dog, I just wish he wouldn't insist on barking loudly every time I'm trying to have a conversation.
