I can't find this error on the site via search.  My firewall has given Dragon Age full access to my machine.  Any clue what would be causing this?

Some of my DLC is checked but not green (Warden, Shale and Dragon Age Armor).  I've had to reauth because I was using the Dwarf Noble and that was the only way to get my gear back after being kicked out of home.

Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem, and my firewall isn't on, nor is my virus scanner. Doesn't seem to be doing anything. It might not be updating our profile. My actual main character looks nothing like this, other than the white hair. I don't have any of the characters that they say I have. Hrm.

I get this error constantly during gameplay, even though I'm logged in, screenshots are uploaded (until it's now full), and achievements are uploaded. So, I know it's connecting, but there's obviously an error somewhere that's preventing the rest of it from updating.

It's been around since the moment I installed the game, though, and nothing has changed. It's actually quite annoying, but aside from disabling the uploads entirely, there's nothing that seems to fix it.

Same problem here, constantly tells me it can't connect to the servers even though I'm logged in as soon as I start up the game. I'm almost entirely through my 2nd play yet it only says I have my elf rogue...and she's level 8...the only thing it uploads is my achievs.

It's really f*cking annoying, an no one seems to have a fix for it.

Today, it's not even keeping me logged in anymore (even though I'm logged in initially). At some point during play, I'm getting logged out. I only notice because I stop getting the error messages and then check the "player profile" to see if I'm logged in (I'm not).

This sort of foolishness is exactly why I elected to stay away from DLC.  I don't trust EA at all, and felt certain that the apron strings aspect would be problematic.  I didn't even attempt to do anything with the so-called "free" DLC.  It's all marketing crap in my book.

When I can have 100 % of the added content all on my own system, with no stupid online baloney (Bolgna), only then will I bother with it!

Well, you don't need to be logged in to use the DLC, just to download it initially (obviously). My game continues to work just fine even with the server errors. It's only the link that's disrupted and the error messages are annoying (but can be disabled by playing offline).

Had this problem as well, before I had the infamous "Unauthorized" dlc problem, so I figured I'd start the DA windows service beforehand resulting in this error.

The way I work around it (both on Vista 32bit and 64bit) is to launch DA as admin, check the download screen, exit the game and start again as regular user (one could of course just keep on playing as admin, but then xfire won't work...)

Anyway, this is how I got rid of the error, ymmv as they say.

Interesting. I'll try that, Jaryd, and see what happens. I've run as admin (and had the same error) but didn't try admin>restart>non-admin. Did you just launch the launcher as admin or did you launch the DA:O executable directly?

Are you sure that that is what got rid of the problem and that it wasn't due to something else?

[Edit] Doing this doesn't seem to have had any effect.

Just as a reference I did my first play through without any of the DLC...so I'm pretty sure that's not the issue.

I'm still getting this issue, even after deleting everything from online, stopping the upload of screenshots, forwarding ports on my router, adding exceptions to firewall in config program, and random other attempts. Has there been any mention of a fix for it anywhere? I've not found official word yet.

I have a save that has warden and shale DLC unlocked and avail (shale is in my party) and I can no longer access that save due to this error. I ended up having to start a new character and it will not allow me to access the DLC that I have paid for, and yes it is checked in the DLC menu.

Any ideas?

Please check the Dragon Age Configuration Utility and see if you've selected "Dedicated Internet Connection." I have cable internet so I selected that, then I started getting this problem. I deselected it and the problem has gone away. Easy fix.

Do note that if you disable the Dragon Age service before logging out in the game, your content will be deemed unauthorized as it failed to verify your account status (which it would never attempt if your logged out to begin with)

Log out in the game, close the game, stop the service and THEN you can play without the service and retain authorized status of your content.
