While we have been invited to expand Thedas, albeit no necessarily cannonically, we have very little information on the linguistic heritage of the world. Apparent t here is a lot of thought behind the history of these languages and their construction, but we have yet to see any of this. Is there any chance that gramatical structures, dictionaries or phrase-book type material could be released or teased from what we are presented with in game? I admit I haven't searched for information on this, but I ahve been following the boards for a long time and have not seen much said about languages ever. A language can be a very powerful tool for creating a sense of history and ahving that tool available to builders would be invaluable.

I agree. I always had an idea to make mod-story where every nation have it's own language and possibility to learn different languages to speak with, f.e., ogres or gnolls. But i never had possibility to do it though

You might want to take it up with Wolf Wikeley. He'd probably know a few things about Dragon Age's linguistics.

Hopefully something like this will eventually be added to the wiki. Language is something that could be useful when it comes to character development, puzzles, and other things.

What we know about elven, dwarven, and imperial is on the fan wiki.
"Mekty nea shrowkan ton yo."
It's not much.

The only thing I recall seeing about any languages is that they had originally planned that languages be made for the elves and maybe dwarves, but that it was cut. Instead they just have some words in their respective languages, and left it at that to make it look like they have their own language without actually making it.
I could be wrong, but I distinctly remember this coming from a dev.

I can't imagine Wikeley would be able to tell us much as I suspect that the languages would fall under an NDA. Bioware would want ownership over them I'm sure. I'm jsut wondering if Bioware plans to release parts of the language to the world at large or if they're going to sit on it for now untill they've developed it a bit more.
