FYI, Do not use the high-res pack with a AMD 5770 or lower - there is not enough memory bandwidth there even if you have the required amount of memory - you get suttering every time it zooms in on someones face.

Im not very tech savy so please bare with my ignorance with my question.

I have two AMD 5770 running in crossfirex mode. Should that be able to handle DX11?
For the most part with high-res pack i don't suffer any stuttering. With few exceptions.

The room at your uncle's house with the chest that contains bonus items.
When in conversation in front of the treee at the elven alignage(sp?)
The first cutscene with Isabella at the hanged man
In varrics room at the hanged man when in convo with him.

The lag usualy takes place when focused on their faces, but not always. And it most other parts it runs fine, even when zoomed on their faces.

I have a 5770 running the High res pack on a 26" screen. My one complaint is that it is still playable fps rates, but it forces my to play at 1280x720. So it kinda eliminates the point
Before though I still wasn't able to play at 1920x1080 due to the game screen being placed down about an inch past the screen and just to the left as well.

All of the cards in the Radeon HD 5000 or 6000 series are DirectX 11 capable. Generally, the high-res texture pack is meant for GPU's at or over 1GB of memory. Also, with Crossfire, or on Nvidia's side, SLI, the memory isn't doubled or tripled based on the number of cards you have installed. The graphics data in one card must match the others. That said, with ATI, there are beta drivers out (11.4) which may help. They reduced the lag on my Radeon 5850. Remember, they are beta drivers so your milage, and stability, may vary.

ty for the reply. just to reiterate i'm not that tech savy so I wasnt sure.

I did a DXDIAG and it states my video memory is aprox 1744 MB

Also I play on a HD TV 32" at 1920x1800.   I only get slow downs in the sequences above, theres a few others now hat im further in the game, but these slow downs don't last very long and are situational.

I did some testing and I still get the slow downs(tho not nearly as bad but still around 14fps) when it zooms in to their faces, and it seems pretty consistant with those cutscenes/dialogues

On average, when you add a second card in either CF or SLI, the result is a full step up the ladder to the next ranking single card's performance. Since in most cases, this means the lesser cards are a poorer value in SLI than the single next higher rank card, that makes CF and SLI most sensible for the highest ranked cards. Therefore, you can look at how well an HD 5870 works as the basis for comparison.

Interestingly, the very newest Radeon, which is an X2, doesn't beat CF for two single HD 6970s, nor is it cheaper than the CF pair.
