I can live it with it but I really don't like that weapons are distilled down to DPS and sheilds to a single armor value. I liked the trade off in DAO of raw damage and CH chance vs. armor pentration. I like trading off shields with lower defense but better missle ratings. Now it is just armor and DPS. I think that was a step backward.

I miss deciding if AP would be more important and therefore the mace/maul a better weapon for upcoming encounters vs. a sword or axe where you expect less armored foes and raw damage and CH% was more important. I miss choosing between a targe with better missle ratings and a kite shield wich was better defense. Now it is just clearly min/max weapon A is cleraly superior to weapon B not weapon A is preferable in one instance and weapon B preferable in another. Same goes for shields. I suppose armor is pretty unchanged though.

A lot of that was kind of a false complexity. There wasn't any real reason to get more missile defense at the cost of armor. It might have been valuable on a single fight. Lots of the other equipment was similar. Encounters weren't designed to need it.

It's nice to have those things, but only if they're properly accounted for and utilized. Otherwise overcomplexity becomes a burden.  Too many weak links in a chain.

I would have liked it if they kept some sort of good vs. heavy armor/weak vs. light armor system, though.
