How do you initiate this quest? When I try to talk to Hubert nothing happens...

I was a mercenary with the Red Iron, and it was in a letter that I got the go ahead to talk to Hubert I think.
The letters you can access via the writing desk in your home in low town. Think it was from that Red Iron guy, and it MAY have been the second letter from him that triggers the quest..

Can't remember exactly. Check your house for letters. I think that's how you start the quest. It also doesn't seem to trigger until you get up a few levels.

What's the consensus on what level you need to be to attempt this? I'm level 9 (rogue) now, but this thing is really doing a number on me

I did it around level 7 (on Hard) I think. (forum profile isn't updating... 
)
I had DW Hawke, Tanky miss Av., Bethany (sustains+heal) and Varic. I had to switch Bethany to a different staff but elemental weapons was a nice help
(hint: not fire...)
Whenever the final boss started chasing anyone but Tanky I just ran them to keep out of range and everyone else got free shots. Health potions were a good plan.
