1. Settling the werewolf-Dalish elf conflict by persuading Zathrian to release the Lady from her "imprisonment" (well, he did yank her from another plane of existence). I really empathised with Zathrian when you hear the pain in his voice as he recalls what his children and tribe suffered; it made me feel like picking one of the crazy genocidal options, but Zathrian's punishment exceeded the crime and it was a vicious circle with no real happy ending for either party. So, I did the right thing. It was so sad watching the Lady "die," how the werewolves showed a tender farewell as her form dematerialized.

2. Listening to Niall tell the Warden about where to find the Litany of Adralla - on his body. To be trapped on a disturbing plane where things aren't what they seem, to know you're dying in the real world and being unable to fight against it. Poor guy.

3. Leliana's song at the camp and the other characters reactions... though the awkward lip-synching and musical instruments playing (when Leliana's hands weren't holding anything) was funny. A beautiful, touching piece, and one of the most poignant themes from the soundtrack.

4. While I didn't like Morrigan (she was well-written, but despicable), she had some great dialogue, particularly when you got to see that icy, defensive veneer momentarily shatter.

5. Before delivering the fatal blow to the Archdemon, Alistair refusing to let my Warden (reluctantly) sacrifice herself after everything they'd been through and shared. His last words were something akin to "You make it sound like I'm giving you a choice." I felt like hissing "You selfish w*****!" and would have put him in a cosy Forcefield. But yeah, his loss was a real shock. Still nearly everything in my epilgogue turned out well, so nevermind. After turning down both Leliana and Zevran, my elf probably ended up a spinster unless the dashing Bann Teagan had something to say. Posted Image

6. I despised Loghain for not just betraying the King (though I agree that Cailan was a likeable, if short-sighted buffoon), but for ruthlessly persecuting parties who refused to accept him, as well as exploiting the Alienage elves... but his words to Anora about little girls not growing up and her pained reaction was really sad. He was a very human, interesting character with strong convictions - even if his fear/hatred of Orlais bordered on the irrational.

7. Riordan being daring enough to jump atop the Archdemon to hack away at it, before plummeting to his death. That man had balls of steel. He was easy on the eyes and had a sexy accent.

8. Hespith, when she tells the party she's a lost cause and beyond saving. Also, her monologue about betrayal after you kill the Broodmother. It made me feel sorry for all the people Branka had condemned to death, seemingly without a care in the world.

In my first playthrough...when I had turned down Morrigan's ritual. I had decided to sacrifice myself, and Alistair wouldn't let me...as I was going through the dialogue options trying to talk him out of it...the TV screen got blurry, my heart started pounding...I really felt like it was a REAL life and death situation...I really felt like my love was about to die right infront of my eyes. When he was running for the dragon, I completely lost it and just begun sobbing. I was so upset that I didn't even talk to all my companions at the end...I just wanted to find Arl Eamon...I thought he would be the only person to understand my pain...I was sooo mad that no one seemed to scare...and I couldn't find him. I was teary and depressed for the rest of the day.

"For Ferelden... for the Grey Wardeeeeeens!"

Alistair's charge against Denerim. By the Maker.

Edit: Also, the death of Duncan. That final glance towers the tower of Ishal.. By the Maker 2x.

There were a great many sequences that hit me square in my cold rocky heart. It wasn't until after I had completed the game that I realized Dragon Age was the first game where I actually liked all my companions, I honestly wanted to hear what they all had to say, Generally with RPGs I get into the habit of making a single party and playing through the whole game with it In this case I was switching characters between every single dungeon just for the awesome banter. The origin stories alone are packed with so much tragedy and potential ragefuel that I still feel like I should be applauding, But I think one of the moments that will stick with me the most was when Alistair begged my hero to let him be the one to kill the Archdemon, as someone who believes loyalty is about the most important virtue a person can have, it felt like I was abandoning my closest friend after having essentially twisted his arm into taking a position he was incredibly uncomfortable with. I wished very much that I could have waited till that moment to present Alistair with Duncans shield, pat him on the back and say everything will be fine, then go do my duty.

The ending may have been bittersweet, but it was still bloody delicious.

-Duncan death was one of the most touching moments for me, all battle cut scenes in Ostagar..I love them,

I like also talk between my female mage and Cullen in a Broken Circle quest. In Human Noble origin Ser Gilmore and those two soldiers sacrifice, also scene with my noble PC's parents. I like also moment when my Dalish leave her clan, it was touching.

Anyway in my opinion BioWare done theirs job very well, and I feel some kind of "bond" with my Origins faimilies/friends etc, even if Im with them so short.

Leliana's song, her face at my funeral, end of the human origin, could make a very long list to be completely honest.

One of the most touching moment was for me in my first playthrough, the goodbyes of the companions at the gates of Denerim, Zevran especially, because my dalish elf romanced him.. , and after telling him that she loved him, he answers with "Cruel 'til the end..."... the expression he showed while saying this... made me almost go back to an earlier save to agree to Morrigan's offer.
And finally the scene in which my character Vhahel refused to let Alistair take the final blow. I really was moved. "Sorry, I can't let you do that". I really could see the bitter smile on her face while saying this and rushing off to kill the archdemon herself.

The epilogue and hearing about the different fates of the companions, especially how Alistair, as king, grants the dalish elves the whole Korcari Wilds in honor of my character. Made me feel like my choice to let him become king wasn't the wrong one.

Also the scene in which the camp is attacked by Shrieks, and Tamlen stumbles to my character... "Never... meant... to hurt you, lethallin"... Horrible scene.

The dead trenches... I always had the "Calling" in mind while wandering through the Deep Roads, which made this section of the game just very depressing... not to mention the Fates of Branka's house, Ruck and Hespith...

The scene of Isolde rushing into the room when you confront Connor/the demon directly... her pleading for another solution, her desperation, and finally the moment she kills her son herself. I had tears in my eyes...
Also the confrontation with Alistair after this scene. My character was crushed enough as it was after this event, and to see him this angered and frustrated made the whole choice a lot harder.

The betrayal at Ostagar... and the moment Duncan sees that the beacon is lit... the music, his expression, the whole ancle of camera. Very well done, and moving.

The scene in which Alistair gives the PC the rose. One touching moment. :)

.....and so many more. :)

When meeting Tamlen again on the Dalish Elf origin, he begged my PC to end his life.

Tamlen: The song in...my head. It...calls to me. He sings to me! I can't stop it! Don't want...to hurt you, lethallan. Please....stop me...

Xylia: If that's what you really want...

Tamlen: Yes...stop the singing. Always...loved you...I'm so sorry.

And then he smiled when my PC said she was going to end it, damn.

Leaving the Dalish clan to go with Duncan.

The whole Broodmother section of the Deep Roads, it disgusts me that a person would go to such great lengths for an obsession.

Also at the battle of Ostagar, when Duncan looked at the Beacon and realized at the last minute that Loghain betrayed the Wardens and the King, just before he got his head sliced in half.

Zevran and his life.

And many other ones.

The most touching moment to me was during my Warrior playthrough (good guy). I romanced Leliana and I was very attached to her character, starting off as an innocent Chantry girl but having so many hidden layers. She was in my party from Lothering on and was always at my side. Her entire dialogue throughout the romances, especially when she kind of falters a little when saying she loved me, was perfect. The hardest part of the entire game, to me anyways, was when I took the ultimate sacrifice, as my good guy would never sleep with another woman since Leliana was his beloved. Hearing Alistair give that speech, the part where he stops and goes "...and some, loved him" and having the camera. pan to her and the heartbroken look on her face was just heart wrenching...

When Riordan did his epic leap onto the Archdemon right before he died...out of all of the ways people died in this game, that has to be one of the worst. I was a little sad that there was no Riordan blood spatter on the ground before you entered the fort.

When I allowed Lohgain to become a Grey Warden, and Alistair started screaming at me. I wish we were given the option to hit him, he really really deserves it at that moment.

Dog during the Human Noble origin...reminds me soooo much of my own dogs at that point.

"When Sten returned to his fellow qunari people, they asked him if he found anyone worthy out there. Only one, said Sten."

It goes something like that, if you made Sten like you and completed his little task. That moment, even though it was the epilogue and in plain text, was the moment I felt I had completed my greatest archievement! :D

I think the ultimate sacrifice ending is the most touching. But there are so many touching moments to choose from. I've never played a game with so many touching or cathartic moments before.

Huh. I did not get that, despite being at 100% "Love" with her. Do only guys get it? I was surprised that none of my companions beside Alistair said a word during the eulogy scene. Actually, I didn't get some epilogues about non-party-members that people have mentioned, either ... Like that tavern wench in Redcliffe whom I gave 5 soverigns to. But anyway. The most touching moments for me were, in chronological order:

* The farewell scene of the Cousland family in Fergus' room. I loved "my" family immediately, you could really tell how close they were.

* My character's kickass mother deciding to stay behind to protect her beloved dying husband until her own last breath and buy time for my and Duncan's escape, and both parents' final farewell to their daughter ... It was the first but not last moment that went beyond "touching" and straight into "tear-jerker".

* The Ostagar battle cutscene. I yelled at the screen in disbelief and fury. Poor Cailan. Poor Duncan. Poor countless slaughtered soldiers.

* Alistair's relief at realizing he was not the only survivor.

* Coming to the Circle Tower and hearing the tears in Gregoir's voice when he spoke about how painful it is to hope for survivors and find none.

* The elven woman who became a werewolf (Danyla?) and desperately struggled to control herself, begging me to kill her and tell her husband that she loves him.

* The climax of the Nature of the Beast plot. I was honestly on the edge of my seat, desperately hoping I could make Zathrian see reason and end the curse because these people were not to blame what other humans did to his children, and his own people were suffering too. It was such a relief when he relented. The conversation between him and the Lady, and the werewolves' farewells to the Lady before she and Zathrian died were so moving I cried. This plot was really, really well done.

* Leliana's song in camp afterwards made me misty-eyed again.

* Leliana's and my noble warrior's mutual admission of love was rather sweet and amusing at the same time.

* The Gauntlet with the ghostly images of important people from Andraste's life, followed by the apparition of my character's father.

* The talk with Alistair after Eamon blurted out his hidden heritage. He was like a little brother to my character, and it was really sad to hear him say he hoped someone would like him for himself, not for being a prince. It really shows how little parental love and general care people have shown him in his life so far.

* Not so much "touching" as "viscerally satisfying on a bad day when I really needed it": the adrenaline-laden battle with the high dragon and my character striking the deathblow.

* Ruck in the Deep Roads. Hardest choice in the game for me was to put him out of his misery. He wasn't hurting anyone. He trusted me. But he did carry the taint, and I thought his pain and madness would only get worse in time. Poor guy. I felt like dirt even although it was a mercy killing.

* Hespith ... "disturbing" would be too mild a term. I so wished I could have helped her, if only with a clean death. There was NO SODDING WAY I would let Branka live after that.

* Loghain's parting words and his farewell to his daughter. His death had been a foregone conclusion since Ostagar, with more and more crimes piled on top that that first betrayal. It was bloody satisfying to turn the Landsmeet against him, beat him down in a duel -- yet those words, and his sudden change from screaming maniac to dignified acceptance and respect for the Warden, did make me swallow hard before I stuck him down.

* Riordan's revelation about the archdemon. He sounds sad, resigned yet determined. In that moment I knew I would get the true warrior's death I'd had my hopes on for this character from the beginning.

* The entire sequence with the armies marching out to Eamon's words and that epic sorrowful music, followed by Alistair's battle-speech and our charge at the burning city. I had tears in my eyes yet was fired up and wanted to cheer at the same time. And Alistair, buddy, look into a mirror now and dare to repeat you know nothing about leading.

* The parting words with each companion at the gates. I almost always travelled with Dog, Wynne and Leliana, yet left Dog behind to make Alistair since it made sense he had to be there. I hated saying goodbye to my faithful sad mabari who clearly knew he would never see me again. :crying: Wynne and Leliana had good lines, but to my surprise the best was Oghren. Earned him big points in my book.

* Riordan's death. Poor brave fellow.

* And, of course, the ultimate sacrifice after the intense archdemon fight. It was everything I could have hoped for. Awesome. Even if I didn't hate Morrigan's guts, I could never spoil this incredible moment by chickening out and talking Alistair into her bed for that stupid ritual.

* Finally, the epilogue. It was perfect, from Alistair's speech to the little snippets of all the places and people. More than enough honor and hope and light to know the sacrifice was well worth it, yet no silly perfect fairytale ending. And again, it was Oghren's epilogue which made me tear up the most. That drunken lecher, settled and sober and married, crying as he names his firstborn daughter after my character? Damn. That and his farewell words at the gates so earned him a place in a future playthrough.

Oghren´s description of how to go berserk are just awesome: "you go mad, throw yourself on the battle and things die". Which is basicaly the effect I saw on letting him loose at high levels...

I found the whole "being exiled to walk the deep roads" quite emotional. I was all ready to make my last stand and take as many darkspawn with me as I could when I found Sir Duncan of Beard.
