I have two tech problems that are occuring.

1)  when I  first load the game as it logs into the game servers it always looks for an "A" drive, tells me that said drive is either empty or has the drive door open and gives me the "try again, cancle, continue" options.  If I click continue the game works after that point, but I would love to get rid of this popup so I  don't have one extra step every time I try to play DA2 (espeically since I  have no drive on my system which is assigned as "A:")

2)  I have lost the ability to use Very HIgh graphics settings.  I was able to use very high and ru nthe game wihtout issue until I switched from windowed to full screen mode.  Now the Very High option is shaded out and I cannot select it in either windowed or full screen mode.

I also cannot select "Diffusion depth of field" or "High quality blur" as both these options are also shaded out.

I have the newest drivers for my GPU (as liniked in this forum) and I have the textures pack down loaded and installed.  Addiontally my version of windows has been updated within the last 12 hours with no effect on these problems.

Would be greatful for any help in resolving this :D

Thanks in advance :)

Switch to DX9 and I think that will solve your problem

Before anything else, get busy and dump 2.5 GBs of whatever crap you are loading in Windows when it starts.  Get it down to a single GB.

You have left off the data on the most important part there is in that PC when it comes to perceived performance.

Video (GPU) Manufacturer: ATI / Nvidia (only those two are supported, PERIOD, so please answer which of them you have)
Video Card Model: (examples) Radeon HD 5670 / Geforce GT 240
Video Card Driver Version: Catalyst ?.? / Nforce ??.??
. . (please use the numbers, and dates, *not* the word "latest")
Video Card onboard RAM: ? ? ? MBs
Sound Card Manufacturer:
Sound Card Model:

(And this is only for the raw hardware & driver variations. Potential software conflicts are far more likely to be game play problems, and developers cannot test for all possible program loads.)

P. S. Please use every day business style paragraph breaks, punctuation, and spelling.

Get All the Details on the Hardware Inside Your PC
http://www.pcworld.c...de_your_pc.html

Your game's configuration utility collects most of the needed data automatically.

As I understand it DX9 doesn't support Very High settings at all, did I miss read that in the sticky?

I'm only loading my AV, networking and printer. Also those all run from my win boot SSD which is not where my games load/run. Most of my RAM load is just Win7 being Win7 (haven't had it long enough to know how to strip it down yet).

Looks like a snipped the dxdiag too soon /facepalm
I have a ATI Radeon HD 4850 1GB DDR3 onboard.

The drivers are all the ones recommended by the stickied link in these forums
Driver Packaging Version 8.84.3-110226a-114256E-ATI
Catalyst Version 11.4
Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1142
2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/class/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0001
Direct3D Version 7.14.10.0825
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.10660
AMD VISION Engine Control Center Version 2011.0226.2342.42516

No additional soundcard installed just using my GA-880GMA-UD2H Motherboard (Realtek drivers)

Using the game's configuration utility I can set display to Very High and save settings however when I then boot up the game the settings have not been applied/saved. (This is the first time I've had this issue with any BioWare program on my system including the DA2 Demo)

ps thanks for the response and please let me know if I've overlooked any requested / relevent infomration.

When I installed Win 7 myself, I certainly ended up with NOTHING at all like this:

"Available OS Memory: 12286MB RAM
Page File: 3846MB used, 20722MB available "

You will have to visit Black Viper's site, I suppose, to learn more about managing Windows 7.

I'll check out the site, as to the used page file that was with DA2 running, it's not just the naked sysboot status.
Sorry I wasn't clear about that :?

Next time you check, it's on the first tab of the DxDiag itself, when you don't have the game in the background.

That's correct, DX9 is older, but some video cards don't support it. You can also try updating your directx software.

Thanks for the reply :)

I've updated my directx (and double checked that my GPU is compatiable with dx11)

Hello. I have read all the messages, but did not get - was the problem resolved? I have the same problem with the pop-up message and after clicking "continue" settings of the game are changed to "window" instead of full screen. Same problem with the textures at highest resolution, but when I lowered it a little the game goes fine.

I have yet to find a full resolution to either problem.

I, like you, can run the game fine on lower settings (albeit with the pop up every time) but have yet to figure out how to get "Very High" settings back since I tried running the game in full screen mode.
