Anyone else experiencing this?
I've found a healthy settings on DX11 High with Hi-Res textures until BioWare decides to get their garbage together and optimize Very High.
But I've noticed that regardless of settings, you get laggy animation when running, panning camera, etc unless you hold down the right mouse button or put the cursor along the ability bar. If I do that, it runs smooth as silk. But the second I release the right mouse button, the animation is laggy.
What on earth is going on here?
Lag In Game Unless You Hold Right Mouse Button?!

If you will read and follow the suggestions in the pinned message, "Before Anything Else", then I will try to help you, and if I draw a blank, you will also have raised your chances that someone else like me will have an answer.

Unichrone - I don't have the issue that you have - it is rather curious. Could you please tell us what your systems specs are? Also, include what kind of mouse you use, and what software it uses.

I have exactly the same problem: Stutter with mouse on screen. Smooth with right button pressed or mouse over ability bar.
Its easier to spot on highest DA2 settings, but its always there, even on low + DX9.
q9650
4gb ram
nvidia 570 (driver 267.24)
1920x1080
win 7 x64
Logitech G5 (with and without Logitech Setpoint Software)

Ah this is what i have i think. But my overall FPS is high but it looks like the animatiuons are down to 15 fps and all movement is jerky.
Intel I7-870
8 GB ram
ATI 5870
Vista 64bit
Ive tried different settings and nothing makes it better, its the same with or without the higres textures pack, and since the games FPS is high i dont see how it could be that.
Tried the newest ATI drivers and the ones released before them.
Tried shutting down ALL non essential processes but no go. No antivirus or FW.

I too am having an issue with the mouse and framerates. I've noticed that unless I hold the right mouse button and move the mouse, even if it is just once and no more, the game becomes a bit laggy. It is still playable and I do find myself holding the right mouse button a lot to reorient the camera, so this is a minor problem.
My system exceeds the recommended specs for the game and I'm otherwise having a good time so far.
Specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad 9450 @ 2.66 GHz.
8GB of DDR2 RAM
Radeon HD 5850 (Note: I installed the beta 11.4 driver and this issue existed prior to doing so. Installing the driver did remove the random pauses I would get during NPC interactions.)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
1920x1200 resolution
Microsoft Security Essentials (I turn off Real-Time Protection during gameplay)
Processes Running During Game
AsusAudioCenter.exe (My sound card software)
atieclxx.exe (I think this is a control panel for my GPU)
CCC.exe (Catalyst Control Center)
csrss.exe
dwm.exe (Desktop Window Manager)
explorer.exe (Windows Explorer)
HsMgr.exe (Part of my sound card driver)
HsMgr64.exe (Also part of my sound card driver)
iTunesHelper.exe (Obvious, I'm thinking about deleting iTunes since I rarely use it)
MOE.exe (Mesh operating environment)
MOM.exe (Part of the Catalyst Control Center)
msseces.exe (Part of Security Essentials)
Reader Library Launcher.exe (Reader library launcher)
taskhost.exe (Part of Windows)
winlogon.exe
wlcomm.exe (Windows Live Communications Platform)
WLSync.exe (Windows Live Mesh)
ZuneLauncher.exe (Zune Auto-Launcher)

I have noticed this as well. The game runs pretty smoothly, and I am usually holding the right mouse button down. But I do notice the lag when it isn't pressed or at the bottom. I'm thinking a patch could address this.

Byzantine, did your search reveal any way to circumvent or address the problem?
Also, BioWare reps, can we please get your input on this? Thanks so much!

Bumping this thread.
This is definitely widespread and it's a performance killer for low-end machines like mine, that run the game perfectly WHEN you're holding the right button.
Please, fix this in the first official patch!

And when I said "know to avoid it" I meant that this thread told about holding rmb down. Previously I had just noticed weird fps lagg (or whatever to call it) and didn't connect the two.

Hmm...that may be what I'm experiencing as well. THough I thought it had something to do with the ground textures as when I panned the camera up in any area it was fluid but when leaving the camera steady it slowed down considerably sometimes.

Same problem here. I'm running on High instead of Very High because then the lag isn't so bad, but it's still there. Unless i hold down right mouse, it gets laggy. Radeon HD6850. Logitech G700 mouse. Win7 x64.

I am having this issue as well. With right click held down the game is smooth as butter on high (Very high is still a mess [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/unsure.png[/smilie]) Let it go though and the game lags. I have no idea what could be causing the issue. I even uninstalled my setpoint drivers to see if that was causing the issue, but to no avail. Even ending every process but what is needed yields no improvement.
