Hmmm. Maybe I'm just cynical, but it sounds like this isn't necessarily an outright fix.
Here's a question - what exactly is/was the issue and what do we all have in common?

A note about the fix that we've included in the upcoming patch - we've added a new checkbox to the options menu, allowing you to choose between two different targeting systems. The system that shipped with the game is more accurate but, as you all know, can perform poorly on some systems. The second targeting system sacrifices some of that accuracy for improved performance.

Rob

Hi Rob, could you talk more about this new targeting system? What is the difference between the original and the new one (besides improved perfomance/less accuracy :P)?

Or will I be able to find out the difference for my self soon *hint* patch release anticipation *hint*.

Personally I find the difference between the on/off to be negligible, perhaps it's just the way I target/play the game. It's definitely not a burden in any way in all the test cases we've had (including internal and external testing)

I recently bought the Dragon Age 2 digital copy from Bioware.com store.

The version of the game is claimed to be 1.03, hence from what i read inside the article this issue should be solved. I read that the "lag / scattering" should go away if the option "disable multiple target renderers" is checked.

Hence i went in the options menu, checked it and run again the game. It turns out that while there is a certain amount of improvement (i was able to switch from 800x600 to 1440x960 or so), it is still possible to observe the same phenomen going on.
To sum all my words, by clicking the right button while running or turning left/right the animation is still sensibly much more smoth and good whereas it isn't if the mouse isn't touched.

My specs are:
Windows 7 x64
Nvidia 8500 GT / 512mb
Quad Cpu Q6600 4x2.8Ghz
8.192 Mb Ram

My pc isn't a monster machine, but i think it's pretty in the mean of the users availability. I could afford playing the game even when it lags, but since we've all seen that it runs pretty fine and smooth with such a simple trick.. ..well, isn't there some turnaround more effective than that included in the patch 1.03?

Before closing my post i want to confirm the observation that the "smoothness" isn't affected by the amount of FPS (there isn't any improvement of FPS while the button is pressed).

lol, it turns out i'm a kind of a fool. ^_^
The option i should uncheck to improve the game is "Enable precise pointing" (translated from my language), not the first one. Now it runs like crazy! :)

thanks guys and bioware!

This old thread isn't going to help you any if all you do with it is add a "me, too", and fail to hold up your end.
