Map used testing this bug: Sundermount Graveyard - where all the fog is - perfect spot to amplify the jerking effect.

Run with mouse cursor on screen - jerking animation.
While still running in fog, quickly push the mouse cursor down to the ability bar - jerking stopped.

Changing Window Theme to basic has no effect on this - same results.

Finding it hard to enjoy the game at this point, hope there will be a fix/patch for it soon.

Seems like this is an issue with the hardware mouse. Simply pressing down your right button doesn't make the stuttering go away, you have to move the mouse so that the cursor disappears. Also when you you move the cursor over to your ability bar it goes away. It's either the harware mouse OR the fact that there's a bug that the game is polling repeatedly to check if there's a clickable object under the cursor. My money is on the latter. I wish I had the source code so I could fix this myself.

I suppose so, but it works fine in a window for me... like the problem never existed, its really weird.

I think it has something to do with some kind of mouse polling location issues...but it's related to fullscreen only.
I found it pretty weird that our Bioware tech rep only played the game in a window...but I suppose that would explain a lot about how the game can make it through QA with things like this.

That's odd, as running it in a window doesn't make any difference for me. What driver are you using?

Windowed mode does nothing for me as well, neither does using one gpu on my dual gpu card. Vsync off does not work (makes it worse), and literally all of BioWare and forum member's suggestions do not work to make this go away.

Right now, I don't care if EA or BioWare even acknowlage this. If there is a modder out there with the right know-how, and they want to get this fixed or worked around, they have my blessing.

*edit: BW did acknowlage this issue. Sorry.

I don't believe the driver versions make a difference with this issue...or with the windowed "fix."
Some give higher framerates, but this really isn't a framerate issue.
I think the Windowed fix seems to only work with people on Win7/x64 and pretty stout hardware.

Lower frame rates exaggerate the problem, high frame rates make it more or less disappear.

Perhaps windowed mode helps some systems, but it doesn't help on my Xeon X3220 @ 3GHz / 8GB DDR3 / GTX 470 / Win7 Ultimate x64 system.

The only thing that did help was the 267.59 driver, which makes the problem more or less disappear, and lets me play in 1920x1200 at Very High, v-sync on, 4x AA, 16xAF, HQ blur, high-res texture pack. But as soon as I turn on SSAO it kills the frame rate, and the problem is very obvious.

I'll bet that if you install the 267.59 driver you'll be able to play in full screen and not really notice any choppiness, unless perhaps if you have SSAO on.

High frame rates have no effect at all for me. I can lower everything down to "low" in DX9 mode and get literally hundreds of frames per second, but it's just as stuttery as getting 30-60fps in very high/D11 mode.
I've just resigned myself to playing in a window until they fix this or admit they can't. It's annoying, but I don't notice as much as I did at first.

Well, it's very strange how this problem manifests itself in different ways, with different workarounds that work for some and not for others.

At least removing the cursor from the screen by holding the RMB or putting it over the abilities bar smooths out the choppy animations for everyone, yes? As long as something's consistent...

I think that's the only universal fix for everyone - hold the right mouse button (sometimes for a second or so) or put the mouse cursor on or below the abilities bar.

I've tried literally every Nvidia driver since DA2 came out (the first official beta, both 560 betas with modded infs, and both sets of 270 betas) and none of them affect this issue at all.
They *DO* affect performance in DX11 in-game (it's pretty noticeable in a window, where my game's smooth), but this is an apple/orange thing, at least on my system.

So here's a question - does everyone have some version of IE9 installed or a wireless keyboard/mouse, or maybe an HDMI video hook-up? Maybe even just a certain motherboard, processor or BIOS?
I know that another guy having the same issue on another forum also happens to be on an i7920/Asus P6T, which I also have.
This doesn't seem to affect everyone, so there has to be some kind of common element for us.

No IE9 (only FF4/Chrom 10), no wireless Keyboard/Mouse, HDMI not in use.
Q9650 / Asus P5QD Turbo here ...
Maybe its the XFi Soundcard ? Anyone with onboard sound having this problem ?

I really dont know if not everyone has this problem, because its hard to see with high FPS (but once you seen it, you cannot unseen it, thats the annoying part)
So, does anyone here with less then 30 FPS definitely not see any change between mouse-on-screen and mouse-over-abilities-bar while moving in a straight line (pressing "w") ?

I have IE9 installed on both of my systems. I have a unifying wireless USB receiver for my keyboard/mouse on my desktop, and a BT mouse for my laptop (and just the built-in keyboard), but it also happens when I just use the touch-pad.

Desktop uses a DVI connector, I'm not sure what the monitor link for the laptop's screen is, probably HDMI or DisplayPort. Desktop has an Asus P5K3 Deluxe WiFi-AP motherboard, laptop has a Dell motherboard.

Using on-board audio on both systems (Desktop: Realtek / Laptop: SoundMAX).

I'm using a Logitech unifying (laser) keyboard and mouse, however this was still happening with a Logitech Bluetooth combo, too. Anyone who has this issue using another brand or an MS keyboard/mouse?
My audio is just my GTX570's HDMI-out, so it likely isn't sound card related (since I don't have one). My onboard audio is disabled in the BIOS, too.

I honestly don't think everyone has the issue. My wife's system is older (Core 2 Duo, 8800GTX) and while performance isn't as good, there's no jitter. It's just a lower framerate/detail setting.

I use a Logitech G5, but I also tried an old PS/2 mouse with just Windows 7 own driver (+deinstall of Logitech mouse driver), no difference.

Tried new Forceware 270.51 beta. Although the frames went up about +10, the lag still exists. Only holding the right mouse button or moving it to the skill bar while moving removes it completely. Bioware has to look into this asap.

Exactly the same issue here!
Better FPS but still the old problem...

I've noticed that with the various betas that boosted performance. My windowed framerates got better every time (especially when fire/fog were on the screen) but the stuttering was still there.
It's not a performance thing and I'd just about guarantee it isn't an Nvidia issue since there are ATI people with it, too.

Somewhere all of us have something in common that's causing this, we just don't know what it is and if it's hardware or software.

I tried to unplug my USB devices like webcam gamepad and stuff (just shooting in the dark here :P) but no luck. My system is a pretty clean new win 7 install. Not much background services or programs running.

What could we all else have in common....mmh

Well, I did try uninstalling SetPoint and using my (uncomfortable) Microsoft Mouse instead, and that didn't do it. Reading through the thread I can't see anything that our systems all have in common.

My system:
C2D E8400 3ghz
3gb RAM
9800 GTX+
Vista 32-bit

I have noticed that hovering the mouse over any of the UI elements fixes it, not just the quickbar (the portraits, shortcut icons, even the dog icon!).

It isn't a huge issue for me, since I tend to move by holding both mouse buttons simultaneously, but occasionally I like to switch to keyboard controls or moving by clicking on the ground, as holding the buttons can get tiring after awhile.

Stuttering here as well when not right-clicking the mouse / keeping the cursor on the quickbar.

Phenom II X4 3,4ghz
4Gb 1600mhz RAM
Radeon 5830 1GB
Windows7 64Bit
Catalyst 11.4 Preview (same problem with Cat 11.2)

Since it's a software problem, finding similarities between systems is pointless. You cannot fix it by yourself.
