Just finished his first quest involving Karl... and afterwards he mentioned how he imagined I wouldn't want someone like him joining the party. Will he join later, or did I unintentionally tell him to bugger off by not choosing the "top" dialogue choice?

hmm~ Was he not in the party selection screen? If he's not there I'm sure you can go back and pick him up.

If I try talking to him, he just says some one liner and that's all. Did he join your party after that quest then?

Usually I'd just reload and try the different options, but they don't let you save after the battle that ensues, and it took me a number of tries on Hard difficulty to finish it so I'm in no rush to do all that again.

Yeah he appeared on my party selection screen after but I don't remember what I chose to have him.

Outside of his homebase, there's the "gather your party" post....was he not there? Then perhaps you chose something that rejected him. Do a few more quests and go back, maybe he'll join you later.

Oh geez you're right. He shows up in the character select thing, and I just got worried 'cause he wasn't following me right off the bat. Cheers.
