Hey guys, how do you make sure Isabella comes back after to catch a thief?  I have heard that you need to have a high enough friendship rating.  If that is so what is the magic point and how do you generate the friendship?

From what I've read, she is gone forever unless she's in a romance with you. Then she'll come back with the idol and be all, "Oops! Sorry I'm a tart!"

She came back since my friendship (no romance) with her was high enough. It was a lovely surprise.

Izzy just left but I have her "thumbs up" will she come back later on (non-romace) to Hawke?

From the guide:

" * Isabela is unique in that you must secure 50% friendship or rivalry and complete her Questioning Beliefs mid-stage relationship conversation before the end of Act 2 if you wish to retain her as a companion. This should ideally be achieved before you begin Following the Qun.

* If you fail to help Isabela first when she and Aveline arrive at the Hawke Estate after Following the Qun, she leaves the party permanently – no matter what the current state of your relationship may be.

* Even if you complete To Catch a Thief, Isabela will only make her timely return during Demands of the Qun if you have satisfied the requirements detailed earlier. While handing her to the Arishok enables you to resolve the Qunari crisis without further bloodshed, this will lead to her permanent departure."

Romance is not required. Good times.

Thats bull... I could not even do her loyalty quest thing at all during act II... To catch a thief is the only quest I was able to do with her.

I think I have her romanced, as she was at 100% friendship, but at my estate when she asked if I was "bringing feelings into it" I said "No"... I hope that I didn't screw up the whole relationship plot because of this.......


EDIT: ok nvm. Got her back. I killed the arishok instead of giving her to him. Works for me.

when do you know if shes coming back or not? I have a full friend bar with her but just before this started relationship with merrill but talked to her at the bar and she was cool with it as long as merrill dont find out about us. i gave her the book and didnt rat her out. the arishok attacked now im running around the burning city, is it to late do i gotta reload or what? quick answers appreciated cuz the games sitting on pause right now

My opinion of her really went down when she just up and ran off with the idol at the expense of starting a war with the Qunari. XD

iirc, that's her only quest during Act 2 (aside from the 'go talk to her' "quest").



And for the poster who asked, you don't find out if she's coming back until you confront the Arishok.

lucky for early saves i was able to do isabellas questioning beliefs quest

if you stick with it the romance gets more serious over time and she does come back after the who relic and boss battle with the leader in the throne room but you have to make sure you say the right things to keep her there i beieve if your friendship is high enough

**SPOILERS**
with her to such an extend if you help her bride the guy trying 2 kill her to give her a ship she will ask you to join her on the ship when all of this is over and she says the I love you and at the very end she will say that the one time i find someone who i want to spend the rest of my life with and (mages/templars) try to kill us and she gets you to promise you wont die (A.K.A. shepherd and Miranda in ME2)

 this sucks, i did all her happy time stuff, gave her the damn ship even and she still leaves without returning.
anything those of us who cant seem to get her on our side?

Isabella came back for me when I had 100% friendship with her and had never flirted with her. I did "To Catch a Thief" and instead of saying I would let her keep the relic, I said it should be returned to the Qunari. She showed up again at Viscount's Keep in the room with the Arishok.

From reading this post, half people here apparently cannot read or type.

Isabella, must have half her friendship or rivalry bar filled to get her "COMPANION QUEST" to show up, if you do not do this quest, she'll leave you for good, period. My first play session, I managed to max everyone's friendship, minus Vael. Second play session now, I never managed to get her to either point, because it seemed whatever I did would cancel out what I did before.

Meaning, I would punch a guy in the face, +10 Friendship, then I help old lady across the street, +10 rival, I don't quite recall what I did to get her all jacked up in the first place.

You have to play the game from a neutral point of view and not overly side with the mages or the templars. I had no trouble maxing her friendship bar by using a mix of good and neutral/joker responses. That holds true even when she's arguing with Aveline, taking Isabella's side actually nets you less approval! The only exception is when you have to choose between going with Aveline or helping Isabella recover the relic. Helping Aveline first will mean bye bye Isabella.

Sounds like I lost her permanently (I romanced Merrill, said I'd give the book to the Qun, finished Isabella's companion quest, briefly seduced Isabella but didnt move in with her, had 100% friendship, etc). I play a mage. Is it possible to get another backstabbing rogue into my party? I think its a low move for bioware to take away the only backstabbing rogue from us like this when the other classes seem to have duplicates (two two-handers, two mages, etc). All the major DPS moves are dagger based. So now I can't play rogue anymore unless I want another useless ranged rogue? Is there a hack to get her back?
