So has anyone been able to complete it? It almost sounds like it was a quest than was unfinished/got (incompletely) cut. I did about three laps of the Wounded Coast trying to trigger it. Annoying.

lol I just had this same issue. Ironically...this quest isn't even listed in the Dragon Age 2 official game guide.

Yeah same issue for me too. I searched the entire island then when I got to the last place to look I turned around and magically the strange bandit leader was there staring at me. Creepy sod.

ive just found a bandit leader at the wounded coast, but nothing happens if i go ahead ^^. that was the only quest i cant handle just cause a bug disturbed me -.-

Same issue here. PC Version. Hopefully, some of these fixes will make it into the next patch.

On the PS3 version. I had the camera angled just so that when I checked the chest (or it could be a barrel, something) in that area, I saw the Bandit Leader magically fade into existence. Then I couldn't do anything with him.
It bothers me that there's a quest I can't complete.

along with Sketchy's quest, this is the second quest to faill at starting or even finishing properly, honestly this is something i expected bioware to have fixed before release instead of making all that pre-release DLC, but alas, we just have to wait for a patch.

PS: It apperently is not pladform related either seing these comments are from all consoles and PC

For those of you having trouble finding the Bandit Leader, he's on one of the side trails off the northern path. If you come in from the east, take the path to the north, and turn right on the first side path. Take it all the way to the end. For those of you who have done the "Duty" quest for Sebastian, it's the same place where you fight the group of Flint Mercenaries on the Wounded Coast. Although right now, no one I know has been able to start the quest, because he can't be clicked on. He didn't appear for me until I actually walked in to the clearing and turned around, and even then, I still couldn'tget it to do anything.  He just stands there.

yup...same here. It never showed up on the wounded coast. I don't recall seeing anyone when I went looking for that quest. I play on ps3. Also, My sketch side quest glitched. I got all the way to talking with him, but then his dialouge stopped and he stood there, with his little icon arrow the rest of the game, but I couldn't interact with him.

the game only froze on me twice, both times while fighting with fenris and trying to attack something at the same time. *shrug* was no big deal.

I did meet and kill the bandit leader, he made some comment about being the one who had gotten away before, but I had no trouble killing him and his "bully boys". I think the kidnapped daughter note was a ruse to get me to the area, because of the wording in the letter and the name of the signature (sphinctori) or something like that. After all, "sphincter" is another name for "anus" more commonly called "a--hole".

I fought those guys to and it didnt complete the quest... so either ways its bugged

So should we go ahead and finish the game and come back and do this quest or should we wait.... *sighs*

I'm guessing the loot/reward from this will be inconsequential so I guess I'll just middle through.

PC version here, I get the Bandit Leader to show up, but he won't do anything, and I can't interact with him.

Did not glitch for me. As soon as you go there, he suppose to initiate a cutscene and once the cutscene is over you are in combat.

I can confirm it is bugged for me as well. Exactly how you explained it. Did not show up until I turned to exit and you can not interact with him

Same here - turned up fought the marauder guy (who didn't drop anything at all; another bug?) then found a blond guy who does nothing.

I don't know if this quest was even intended to have been put in the game. I skimmed through the guide to find this quest and it's not even in there.

Having the same problem on the Xbox 360. Guy eventually shows up and just stands there looking all zombie-ish. Cannot interact with him. I had the Sketchy quest glitch as well. I hope they patch this soon.
