How about mine? I suspect I'll only be able to run it on minimum settings. :(

Toshiba Satellite A305D laptop
Windows Vista Home Premium
AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-70s (2 CPUs), 2.0 Ghz
2814 MB RAM
ATI Radeon 3100 Graphics

It wasn't meant to be a gaming rig, heh.

Don't think your GPU will do the job. It sounds like some onboard thing, which most standard laptops have anyway. Can you even run the CC? I doubt that, actually.
But if you have a console, get it for that. Else pray and upgrade ;)

The Character Creator? It runs just fine on my laptop, no hitches or glitches, except that all other programs freeze up at the same time (probably due to the processing power and RAM needed). No consoles unfortunately.

I'd say high-maxish, depending on the resolution.
And your system only sees 3.5GB RAM because you (most likely) have a 32-bit OS. 32-bit OSs can only see 4GB of total memory, so that's including the memory of your GPU, your CPU cache etc. You can't use more than those 3.5GB, but that'll be enough.

Sorry if this was already answered in the thread but..

Why do the mods suggest a quad core for this game? Does it actually utilize more then 1 core (unlike just about every game out there right now)?

I'm quite unsure if my processor will be able to keep everything maxed out, it's an AMD Athlon X2 7750 running at 3,2 GHz. (My graphics card is a ATI 4870 and I've got 4 GB of RAM so that should be ok for highest settings - running it on either Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows Vista Ultimate, not sure wether we'll get the 7 before launch or not :P)

I have no idea. However, they already said that you don't really need a quad-core. A 2.5Ghz dual-core (or something like that) will do just as fine. I'd be surprised if they could use all 4 cores, but 2 cores is pretty much the standard these days. Single-cores are really outdated now.

They don't anymore, the system requirements have recently been revised so that dual core is now recommended.

See here for the new specs.

That's actually untrue. Most games do utilize multi-core processors nowadays. A year or two ago this would be true, however, times have changed.

Chikkenstorm, do you know roughly what specs you need to run the game on max in 1920X1200?

Thanks. :)

The recommended specs.

EDIT: Some clarification - the recommended Nvidia card, a 8800 GTS 512mb is enough for that. I'm not sure that the recommended ATI card, a 3850 512mb will be enough - it's a siginificant distance behind in every game.

Ok, I'm unsure about a few things, so could you all give me some advice? I'm using a laptop that's as old as Vista (seriously, about the same day) with the following specs:

Windows Vista Home Premium

AMD Turion 64x2 Mobile TL-50 ~1.6GHz

958 MB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 281 MB

I can run the CC with most any settings, though it does go a little slow no matter what settings. I don't really care that much about maxing the system out, but how playable will the game be? Will it run at 2 FPS when I'm walking through an empty field, or will I just have to turn some numbers down/options off for the big battles?

Wouldn't count on playing DA:O on that. 1GB of ram is already very low for a Vista machine, let alone to play games aswell on it. And you GPU is probably an onboard solution aswell, and they're not good for gaming.

(Just repeating) As for dual cores. It was concluded that a high clocked dual core will also max this game out.

Moderators also mentioned this game to be Gpu heavy and not Cpu heavy meaning waeker cpu's need not to fear, Weak graphics cards do.

Even that won't be necessary, they've actually lowered the requirements now - a Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz or Phenom II X2 2.7Ghz are now recommended.

I played with my specs Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Mass Effect with high settings without problems.

Can s.o. tell me if this will be enough for DA:O with 1024x768, no AA, all other options on max.  ?

Settings:

XP(SP 3), tweaked, defrag, no other big installations
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2x(3.06 and 3.07 Ghz)
2024 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT

Thanks for help! :)

Hmh, your GPU isn't that good, but your resolution is very low aswell. But Oblivion seems to be a pretty though game (for your pc), it used to be a very popular benchmark. So yea, atleast high, really don't know about max.

My rig:

Vista Premium 32mb

Intel core 2 duo 2.66ghz

Nvidia 8800 GTS 640mb

3GB ram

26" HD screen

I'm thinking from looking at what Bioware say that I should be able to play close to max settings with this spec am I ryte?

Also any ideas what the best resolution I should play at?

Cheers

Is my processor really lacking though? When do you think I should get a new mobo/processor?

Abadomen , you will want to upgrade your processor soon methinks, you have a GPU which will last at least another year or so of new games, and your ram is high enough for a while so your processor/mobo should be next thing for you to upgrade : )
