Yeah I agree, if replacing ones mobo was less annoying it would make upgrading pc's much more cost effective than it already is lol and save time and effort

I think my next move is going to be buying whole new pc just without screen because I cba to get new mobo and then processor and I want 64bit windows so can run at least 4 gb ram :)

Anyone able to anwer my first question though? :

My rig:

Vista Premium 32mb

Intel core 2 duo 2.66ghz

Nvidia 8800 GTS 640mb

3GB ram

26" HD screen

I'm thinking from looking at what Bioware say that I should be able to play close to max settings with this spec am I ryte?

Also any ideas what the best resolution I should play at?

Cheers

I don't know who created these system requirements but they are SOOOORELY mistaken if they actually think Windows 7 should be coupled with Vista. 7 is so clean, empty, fast and efficient that you might as well be using a mac. Seriously. I would even go as far as to say it's faster than XP.

When I switched from vista to 7, I started feeling like I had my full 2gb ram back. Also, I do live broadcasts for gaming, and my upload speed was 411 kbps with vista, and 1040 kbps with win7. That's gargantuan. Keep in mind though that upload is not the same as download.

I'm getting about 24mbps download speed. My computer is about 5 years old and my internet connection is just with the local no-name company.

Windows 7 users: Do not fret about the system requirements. You require even less than XP users to run this game. However to be safe, just look at the XP requirements and pretend that win7 and XP are on par.

To make this clear: Its not all about GPU, CPU and RAM!
It does also matter from which DIstributor you get your Graphic Card. To know type doesnt have to
mean all.

Also tweaking your Operating System can boost Performance(especially XP)
A clean Hard Disk Drive will also help you much; the more crap is loaded and scattered, the
slower your PC will be.

That points are for the onesm who dont have the money for upgrading (incl. me :)

Another question - Is there currently support for SLI or will we have to wait for a nvidia profile?

This is complete and utter crap.

My company has just started rolling out Win7 to some of our clients. It is considerably faster than XP at booting and most other things... but it is still nearer Vista than XP in terms of what its made of. The requirements for running a game under Win7 are definitely nearer Vista than XP.

Sorry Myazuid but you seem to have either not read my post or mis-read it. I said can I run this on MAX settings and what resolution should I use? I know I can run it, but with a game which looks as good as this I would like to know if I can play on best settings or I will upgrade some part of my set up.

People, forget XP It is done for. No need to fear for 7, It runs well on old pc's like pentium's 4.

OK. I'm sort of embarrassed to ask the question, but based on my computer specs, I think DAO should run OK, but I'd love another opinion...

Dell Dimension DXP061 (it was a moment of weakness)

Intel Core 2 CPU

6420 @ 2.13 GHz

2 GB memory

NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE

Finally, a good, clean, pure game made exclusively for the PC, not some terribly ported console version. Here's to the game not having that many bugs and glitches. Who will join me in this toast?

Sorry, DangerRanger2399, but that 7300 is gonna have a rough time playing this game. You'll probably get away with it but you resolution aint going real high.

Not exactly exclusive to PC, but certainly unlike many console ports, this is a "PC port".

I'm afraid that computer can only handle very low at most, with possibilities of lags still. The graphics card does not meet minimum requirement sadly.

With that Graphics Card it probably wont run at all!

Can you run the Character Creator with it?

It should be able to handle the game on High, or Medium depending on just how high a resolution he'd want to play on that large screen.

I got a new graphics card, and it runs great, but unfortunately, that also means I can't play my old games on my computer anymore. ;(

Unfortunately, that video card won't run the game at more than a crawl.

Fortunately, you have time to buy a new one.

My suggestions are here.

I won't even bother asking if i can run it i know i will do fine & also dont mind turning off AA or AF
for larger scenes that may have slowdown not that jaggies are a prob as the res goes up anyway.

Also it is rare for me to play in max res it often makes the text to small to read well & going down a rez or 2 again no problem my monitor has a nice fine dot pitch & scales res well so none of the "native resolution" rot please,

anyway Windows 7 vs Vista VGA game performance    (same test PC with the very same settings)
